It's composite I believe. I wouldn't care to just get the MIP ball diff. I could tune it a hell of a lot easier that way. If I go all metal I'm hoping to chase my weak link out to the spur gear. Much easier to change out, in the field especially.

I think most of us have this problem because we're mainly bashers. Nicely groomed tracks are a lot easier on trucks than the random shit most of us drive on.

My bad, I left out the word should. Metal top, idler and diff gear, should be "Dangle"proof.

Just got home from running a couple of batteries on the virgin track. Some places had to be watered, while most of the track was fine moisture wise. The first pack was kinda shitty, we knew it would be, still lots of marbles on the surface, rocks and clods. All the jumps sucked, had to roll them all the first battery. After, we had a rock throwing/raking, jump facing, lip tweaking party. Second pack we ran our J82 buggies, daylight and dark difference, all but two jumps are made easily (jump over may need redesigned). I guess we slung a lot of the crap off the best lines, as the track was hooking up better later on. I'll post some pics from this weekend, as we'll invite everyone out, (only three of the original four showed tonight, the other works out of town) it needs ran on more to settle in perfectly.

Sounds pretty schweet. Can you remind me what exactly the J82's are? I remember they're sort of a hybrid deal. aannd where are you in Alabama? My dad and brother just got back from visiting some family in Chatom and Silas.

I'm in Muscle Shoals (Colbert County) I'm in the very northwest corner of the state, 25 minutes from TN or MS. Surely you know the song Sweet Home Alabama, "Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers, they've been known to pick a song or two". It's the hit recording capitol of the world. Seems your folks were in Choctaw county, way south of me, prolly four or five hours, distance wise not that far, but no good way to get there. I could be in Kentucky from here, before they could get here from there. J82 is a conversion that JConcepts came up with, you take a T4, and convert it into a buggy. It's got some weird off-set rear wheels, just a tad narrower than a T4, but way wider than a B4. A "T's" chassis is a good bit longer than a "B's". It's a B4 buggy on roids, longer, wider, and slightly bigger tires all the way around. JConcepts nomenclature, J, namesake, 8, for scale, 2, for 2wd. But, it's not as big as a true 1/8 scale.

    HA!

I'm kinda of getting just a little bored/annoyed with the SC body. Wouldn't to convert mine to a T4 or J82...

You don't want a buggy for bashing, everything is exposed, A-arms, shock towers, even wheels and tires. If they turn over, your fucked, it ain't gonna land on it's wheels. A T4 is much better about landing on it's feet, but still your A-arms are exposed. For total bashing, I'd guess a full body, with tires tucked underneath would be ones' best bet.

I'm still running all 4 original a-arms. I broke my front bulkhead within the first week, though... replaced it with aluminum. Still going strong. Rear chassis brace/bulkhead thing broke after hitting a tree wide open with the brushless.... That's all that's broke other than stripping two idler gears, and the gears in my stock servo. And SC10's aren't durable.

I'll send/post a pic of the box of broken A-arms, we call the "wall of shame" mostly fronts, from when the "4" series first came out. We all sent emails to AE bitching about the weakness of these parts, they replied, "were not aware of any problems", even contacting RPM asking why they were not making parts. Not sure if our constant bitching/posting negative on any forum we could find helped or not. But they changed the design, and RPM started making them. I guess my point being, yours have held up under a SC shell, bashing, and ours sucked ass, while trying to run a dirt course. Again we all averaged 40+ years of age, with almost twenty years of time under our belts at the time.
