Hi, new member here from New Mexico. I have owned several toyotas/tacomas in the past. I was looking at new tacomas today at the dealer and was wondering if anyone knows if the fog lights are any better on the 12's vs the 11 models. The design on the 2012 looks a little smaller than the 11. My dealer has a couple 11's left that I know I can get a better deal on. Any other reason besides the front end change and the minor stuff inside to go with a 12?
    thanks for any help

I wouldn't let the fog lights make the buying decision.

Most would only buy a 2012 over a 2011 for the front end re-styling.

If you can get a killer deal on a left over new 2011...I'd surely recommend going that route.

X2. I wouldnt let the fog lights make your decision between an 11' or 12' model. If it was me, I'd rather get the 12' since they changed some of the stuff on it just to keep up with the times.

Thanks for the help. I am probably looking at about 29500.00 on the 11 double cab auto 4x4 JBL trd offroad. That does not include TTandL.

white is a nice color on the DC 4x4.

I bet the dealer will do better than the 29,5

I also agree w/ Beavis on the resale issue.

the spread has to be more than 1500 to seem like a good buy.

Yeah 29.5 on a 2011 should be a deal breaker... they're takin you for a ride. Want my advice? Figure out exactly what you want, and if you cant decide on a few options, go to dealers and check them out. Get a feel for them. Then go back home and do ALL of your dealings online. Dont even let them call you. It is much easier to maintain control of the price and the situation when it is through email. You will get a better price. Just my two cents.

The sticker I believe is right about 32630.00 I think its got most all the stuff on it besides navigation. I can get out of the TT&L as I have a dealers license.

Get the 2012, the changes make it a much more enjoyable truck to own, especially if you like technology and don't want to drop a bunch of money into aftermarket stuff that probably will not fit right. Resale will be better because it is newer, but Tacomas but the resale on either will be so good it may not be much.

I do like technology, is the navigation package really that great? I was told it hooks up to your smart phone so you can use your apps etc? Any input on that?

I think the 2011 had better be at least 3K cheaper to pass up on the 2012 IMO

I hardly use the entune apps. Supposedly they may add more in the future. Nothing a phone can't do but it's nice to have it on the dash rather than fumbling around with a device. The fuel price one is pretty cool. Haven't used the navigation yet because I know my way around my town. I'm sure I'll enjoy it on my next trip. The apps use your phone data plan but navigation doesn't.

The sound is fantastic and I like the Bluetooth, touchscreen, and having the reverse camera displayed on the screen rather than the mirror. I'm a tech geek and I'm glad I went with the entune.

If I could do it again I would not even get the nav. The base system on the 2012 imho sounds just as good the jbl system in mine, just with less less bass. The base radio also has streaming bluetooth, ipod/usb integration, and a large display--way better than the single line and no usb you get with the 2011 and prior radio. Get the base radio and add a powered sound ordinance sub for $200 and you will never tell a real world difference between it and the JBL system. For 29800, you can buy a comparable 2012 without even haggling. http://www.jimbarkleytoyota.com/New-Inventory-actionitem.aspx
