Sub I'll snap a pic of my watches. I don't have many but love them anyway. I want a Rolex just for the sake of having one and to be able to say that I have one. haha.

GREAT watch for the money, many last for decades maintaining their rugged good looks the whole time. I own a number of these classics. If you like this watch, check out the Seiko SRP043 on Google, getting scarce.

Same here. I gave up watches when I started carrying a cell phone. The exception being an Ironman for ticking off miles when I run.

I cut some wires here. Added some wires there.
As hard as it is I like to be as least dependent on my phone as possible. I still memorize phone numbers too. Call me old fashioned.

Besides, not that I have one, but they don't make $35,000 cell phones. I'm not even sure they make $1000 cell phones.

Plus, it's manly. If you're at a bar talking to a group of girls and one of them asks what time it is you look better referring to the $1000-$6000 Tag Heuer on your wrist than asking Siri.

That may be, but other than gold diggers how many would know (or care) that you're wearing a $1,000-$6,000 watch let alone who made it?

Back when i got out of college (12 years ago) my wife and I set some goals. One of them was the first year I make made XXX dollars per year she would buy me an omega seamaster.

That year passed last year and i couldn't bring myself to let her buy it for me. Seemed like a tremendous waste of money considering you can buy some wonderful watches for reasonable prices.

Plus im saving up for a damn supercharger.... there is no way in hell i would buy a watch over a supercharger. So i will stick with my Casio blackhawk for dress and ironman for everyday.

In a world of Coach purses I think every chick would care, if they knew, that you were wearing an expensive watch. Chicks love labels. From Coach to Prada to Oakley to whatever. Women in African villages that have never seen a white man have Coach purses. They'd make you king of the village if they knew how expensive your watch was. Meanwhile you're cell phone would have no service, no means of charging, and with nothing shiney to sway the locals you'd probably end up cooked and eaten.

Doesn't matter who knows it. I have worn a Rolex SS/Gold Oyster Perpetual Datejust for 20 years, and when its cleaned it looks close to brand new. The design has only slightly changed and it has actually appreciated in value (because of gold prices). This thing can take anything you throw at it and still dress up for a formal event. It is a fantastic watch, and although its expensive, it will continue to last and I will pass it along to my son when he graduates College! Then get me a Yacht Master! It is not necessarily about the money, but rather the quality and the timeless style. Find me a Seiko or Timex (or a Tag for that matter) that is worthy of wearing for 20+ years and passing along as a family heirloom? There aren't any.

Back to the original subject, I have a Citizen Aqualand Duplex. Love it, just wish it had a back light. It's only about a $400.00 watch, so not outrageously expensive, but it is also a backup to my dive computer. Not into the label thing. If Timex, Casio or Joe's watch shack had a comparable watch that was as reliable I would have that. I am all about function over bling any day. Of course, we all drive Tacoma's and thus have the best of both worlds!

    A) I'm a girl; looking manly at a bar is not on my priorities ;)

    B) Not that I'm a terribly important person, but I'm always on duty for work. Even when I'm off shift I have final responsibility for what happens at work, and I have to be available to answer questions. If I am being paid on a particular day, I am tethered to my cell phone. And even on about half the days I'm not paid, I'm still tethered to my cell phone. I used to wear a watch but I can't at work and my watch broke riding around in the pocket of my duffel bag. But since I have to have my phone all the time anyway, doesn't really matter. *Shrug*

    C) How about a $73,000 phone? :D http://www.jamesallen.com/news/love-in-style/73k-Diamond-Cell-Phone-10-25-2007.html

EDIT: Missed this lovely nugget before:

A diamond encrusted cell phone would be shiny enough to sway the locals, regardless of your watch. Also regardless of your purse. I'm confused. Why are you carrying a purse in an African village? Eh. I used to sell $1200 purses. What a waste of money.

Sure it looks good, but I don't care what time it is in Germany! Geez, we're in the good ole US of A!! I'm can't even read German time.

It's funny how many people come up to me and ask for the time when their phone dies.
