Well my father has a 4 cylinder 5 speed and it does it to, but my buddy has 04 v6 and it runs under 2000 when going 60

Mine does 2500 RPM at 70, 3000 at 80. All the six speed guys complain about it. Don't know if a first gen is supposed to be that high or not. Seems like with 32s you should be lower than that.

If you don't know the history of the truck, might be possible it's been regeared.

Mine gets about that in mixed driving. Average around 19 on the highway.

Are you sure the speedometer/odometer is accurate? If someone's regeared it, might not be right now.

Is your buddies truck an automatic? The automatic second gen trucks run at lower rpm than the stick shifts. Again, not sure about the first gens.

My buddies is an automatic 2004. And it seems like the gauges are right cause u can tell the wine in the motor is pretty high.

When I read you post originally I only saw the "2" rpms... missed the "n half"

So I was thinking 2000 rpms at 60 mph. Now that you mention it, it does seem a bit high.

    Here's mine today:

    1998 V6, 5-speed. I was in 5th gear going up a slight incline when I took this.

Mines about the same as Madjik Man, just over 2 rpm at 60 and then climbs up the faster I go. I've got an 01 V6 DC automatic.

    ^^^^
    Same here @ 70 I'm just under/right at 2500 rpm with my 2001 V6 Dub Cab
If I am reading my gear codes right I think I should have 4.10 gearing, which should be the common gearing for most 1 st gen V6's

I know my fathers 2002 2.7 Prerunner acces cab has 4.56 gearing from factory and his revs are even higher.
