Software and other people's Windows phones. Game consoles. I was in a bit of a hurry and didn't go into the store. I should the next time I go over there-but that'll be a while.

For the most part though, someone else sells you a MS product. Buy a computer and you get the OS from the maker. Buy an application and unless you're doing volume licensing, you'll probably get that from a third party as well.

Seeing them try to replicate the Apple experience is kind of strange.

Nope. They opened the place with the Black Keys too. Such a shame.

They're not really the same model though since Apple makes the hardware as well as the software. I think it's more to do with the mindset of potential customers. When you think Apple, whether it be computers, iphones or ipads, training or troubleshooting of your Apple device, the Apple Store comes to mind. Plus, when the big devices came out (e.g. iPhones and iPads), it was the place to go to see them.

Whereas with Microsoft, with the exception of the xBox, it's primarily a software company so people tend to think of the operating system or Office applications. There's less of an association in the mind of potential buyers for phones, tablets and computers as they are usually associated with the manufacturer of the device (e.g Dell), the cell carriers (e.g Verizon/ATT) or with the large box stores (e.g. Best Buy). Because of that, it probably won't work out.

At Christmas 2 years ago, when the x'box kinect just came out, it was the other way around. There was a crowd gathered at Microsoft to watch the idiots dance and no one was in the apple store next door.

That was why I said "For the most part, they are the same marketing model as far as the store goes.". It was also in the follow up comment about third parties selling MS products ;)

I would agree that it probably isn't going to work out in the long run but it is interesting to see them in the retail space.

    guys

I tried putting a credit card in the credit card slot thingy on my computer and it's stuck.

I called tech help and they said that slot is for floppy cards, and that bologna won't cook in the circle shaped spinny thingy

    who's wrong?
