4.0 Gas Mileage

I hear this is the MORE mpg option...

 

Rumors say 2013 might have a new engine which will help with HP and Mileage. We can only hope

 

Probably the same one that is in the new FJ. Since the FJ and 4runners get the better stuff first.

It might be more efficient, but it is also a weaker engine, structurally.

 

just got over 21mpg outta mine on 93 octane!!!! 368 miles before the light came on = 21.65 mpg

 

How much gas went back in ?

 

Just ran 382 miles on 17.1 gallons about 60/40 highway/city, which is about 22.3 mpg

 

I've noticed about 20-22 MPG in my stock PreRunner DblCab most of the time. My Fuelly input is with me doing much more city driving than I normally would. There are tons of little things that can improve mileage, if only a little bit... It adds up.

 

Honestly it's all about how you drive. I have gotten as little as 15mpg on a full tank to 22.5 mpg on a full tank doing the same ratio of city/highway

You hit the nail on the head. If I drive like I like to drive, I get 17. If I drive like a I can get 21 or better. Damn I hate driving slow

Question for you all that's kind of like Jay238's: As of last week I'm driving a 2005 DC Off Road 6-speed with Nitto Terra Grappler 285/70/17's and about a three inch lift. (May have to start another thread to see what you all can tell me about the lift.)

When I used the tire size calculator I think I'm supposed to input 265/70/16's as the stock tire the odometer would have been calibrated to - at least in theory?

When I use the 265's as my base assumption, and the current 285/70/17's the tire size calculator tells me that I'm actually going 6.4% farther than my odometer reads.

If that is all correct, is this the math? (Odometer distance) x (106.4%) = (actual miles). Then (actual miles)/(gallons at fill-up) = (Actual MPG's)?

Is that correct?

My first tank with no correction was 17.2 mpg's on 87 octane.

 

I just purchased a 2013 am i able to use ethonal

 

My Tacoma made 24.1 mpg cruising at 64mph 80 miles trip, is that normal

 

I get about 17mpg all the time no matter how hard or easy I drive. I'm mainly city driving and get 250-280 per tank.
