OBX 3.4 V6 HEADERS

Is there any reason these would/wouldn't fit my 95.5 Single Cab 4X4 Taco?

 

does your truck have the 3.4 in it?

 

I have owned several of OBX's products and found nothing wrong with them in the past. Installation on these is a breeze.

 

No, it has the 2.7 and I'm trying to put headers for a V6 on it.

+1 The OBX header in my Miata NEVER gave me any troubles. And for the $150 that I paid, compared to the $450 the Racing Beat cost, was a well worth expenditure.

but yeah I have heard bad things about the OBX headers for the 3.4, but good things about them for pretty much all other applications. Not sure what that's all about.

Any way I really don't see a reason for them to not fit, your truck came stock with a 3.4L in some trim levels.

IIRC, you cant install these as is. They need to be properly coated/treated and it cost a bit of money to do it right. What happens is, heat expodentially speeds up the process in which metal degrades/rusts and If these arent properly coated they will never last.

 

Funny, have had an uncoated OBX on my Protege5 for 7 yrs now. Sure it isn't shiny as new but is hardly in any kind of bad condition much less nearing failure on any level. Isn't shiny like new, kinda purplishactually, but not rusted.

+2, paid 125.00 for the new one on my P5 and 80.00 for the shiny as new one with extra bung for wb o2 sensor. Paid 60 for one someone was getting rid of that was also shiny like new.


Let's see, that's 265.00 for 3 headers. Hmmmmm, should easily outlast the car. But yeah I went ahead and spent the 350 shipped for a slightly used LCE for the Tacoma.


Nothing wrong with an OBX. The money you save will pay for it to be coated and still be cheaper. Coating costs less than 200 last time I checked.

 

OBX has had pretty inconsistent quality issues in the aftermarket world FOR ALL MAKES. For the record, there is no such thing as an "EASY" header install on a 3.4 5VZFE----unless the motor is literally on an engine stand outside of the truck itself.

The one on my 22R looked fine after like a year, it wasn't shiny and blued as motorcycle exhaust pipes do when they're also claimed to be "stainless steel". I thought they made a good product for the price. I expected it to be similar to the horror stories I've heard about Pace-Setter Headers or Heddman.
