Using 303 Aerospace on Spray Painted Surface?

I'm about to spray paint (still trying to determine which kind) my center console/cup holder assembly and shift boot trim black.

But I would like to be able to clean it using 303 Aerospace.

Will wiping 303 on it mess up the paint?

 

Honestly, idk if it would mess up the paint, but the 303 probably wouldn't look very good on a painted surface.

 

Well the guy at the paint store, also an auto enthusiast, said that 303 won't mess with a gloss enamel paint. But I don't want shiny. So I asked about plastiderp and he said 303 won't mess with that at all.

So here's to my first derp endeavor....

 

i spray painted my window switch covers and center console with a flat black paint. i use 303 on the dash and door panels, and just use the already (semi) wet towel and lightly go over the spray painted surfaces. never an issue, and looks great. i don't think plasti dip will hold up too long on a surface that's being handled a lot.

 

Thanks... I already used the damp 303'd rag on the painted surfaces and, like you said, it works great.

And yeah I plastiderped and ripped it off in a matter of a few hours

I like the product but honestly do not see any practical uses for it on our trucks... unless it's like the A and/or B pillars or something like that.

 

I agree, it's not a bad product, and certainly has it's uses. I just felt that a more permanent product is a better choice. I used it on my wheels first to make sure I liked the color, then peeled it off, and painted them.

 

I was gonna derp my wheels (because I'm a lazy bastid ) but then I just convinced myself to do it the right way.

(tons of prep, sanding, cleaning then specific wheel paint)

 

I dipped my wheels and they actually have held up very well and you can put more coats on with very little prep work

 

You're not the first to claim that on wheels... and I believe you guys.

But in just putting the screw back through the trim piece I plastidipped, the tip caused a small little hole. And I thought I did an excellent job of coating it the right way.

I'm psyched yours are holding up well... how long has it been and do you wheel at all?

edit: just went through your gallery, obviously you wheel And the wheels look great. Curious though, why not coat the weights?

 

They've been plastidipped since last summer. I switched wheels with my brother's 4runner and he's running with my other wheels that I plastidipped before lol. The weights weren't coated because I had just gotten new tires and the new weights were added when they balanced the wheels. I coated the weights later though. There are more pics in my build thread. Also you don't have to take off the wheels or tape off anything to recoat. I got lazy after my wheels got muddy and when the power washer didn't take all the dirt off I just applied a couple coats over it. Didn't have any problems from doing that and it makes cleaning/recoating wheels easy lol.

 

I used paint on my wheels to avoid the issue with dirt sticking to the plasti dip. Simple soap and water gets them cleaned up, and can be easily resprayed when scratched.
