Exterior.. if it aint wheels it shouldn't be flat, I agree.

But this glossy black might be a bit too much for me on the interior. We'll see. I'm sure laziness and "eh it's good enough" will kick in :D

Interior, yeah, flat black would probably look good.

    But nope, not even wheels...

    Flat black...

meh... one of my biggest pet peeves is glossy black wheels with lighter black tires.

    looks ubermoronic

    FYI

I'm going to try and dye the shifter boot(s) this weekend.

It's a little too glossy for me, but it's fine for now. Eventually I might go flat black.

Definitely going flat black on the transfer case shift knob immediately.

And will eventually match the door panel trim pieces to match whatever black I settle on for the console assembly

sorry for the crappy pics. I guess when I upload them through tapatalk it fucks up the pictures, because I know my Iphone takes better pictures than that.

    Doesn't look too bad.

    Thanks for the uploads.

Gonna try the vinyl dye on the stock shifter boots first... if that fails miserably then I'll buy that aftermarket boot

Looks great. Really like those shifter boots actually.

If I were you, I'd use that vinyl dye on the shifter knobs. They really absorbed it well.

Gotta say man, I used the flat black on my transfer case shift knob and it looks really fucking nice.

Might be hitting up the whole thing in flat back this weekend.

It's not nearly as flat as you would think. I'll get pictures of the knob in sunlight so you can see the difference.

It's hard to tell based on the pics, but there is a notable difference. The flat looks much better IMO

    Gloss:

I have done all the hi-pro mods for a life time, since I got this truck at a great price, I will be happy with showroom new.
hey guys, what both of you did really looks good, I have seen that paint but would never have tried it, but now I will. decades ago, when I had a 87 nissan hardbody as a spare, the only thing to use was black spray paint, for the grill, it looked good for a month, but that was it..
hey and TacoMX thanks for the write up on the slave cylinder, its something everyone with a 5speed is going to have to do so I owe you one. wish i had more money in my truck budget because she needs new leafs, BADLY, if the group buy is still open in a few weeks I will be in, but that is the best I can do.....

For the vinyl parts: shift knobs, armrest on console, armrest on door panel, upper trim on door panel, etc... I highly recommend this vinyl/fabric dye.

For the hard plastic, I would have gone with some adhesion promoter (primer) then spray paint for plastic.

All in all, this vinyl/fabric dye will probably hold up well for awhile on the plastic trim, but I foresee a redo within a year or so.

Wow, I saw this thread just in time. I was about to buy a ton of new OEM trim pieces to redo my interior. Now I think I'll try this dye first. Thanks guys!
