So what are the intake options with the '12s?

I am going to pick one up this week, and was wondering how that is going to work out...

Supercharger scheduled to be installed on April 30th. Had to wait a few weeks so I could get my truck into the body shop because a kamikaze deer tried to take me out on friday the 13th. New front bumper, bracket, wheel well liner, and I got the body shop to replace my chrome grill surround with a body colored one. Hopefully my insurance rates don't go up. Speaking of, are you required to report such a large performance enhancement as a supercharger to your insurance company? Say that you don't tell them and your truck is stolen, then are you able to claim the supercharger as part of the loss to the insurance company?:D:mad::confused:

Depends on the insurance company. Some require it to be reported if you want them to cover the value of aftermarket parts, some will appraise the value after just depends. Something like this that really only adds 40-50 HP not a big deal. Not even worth reporting the power increase.

Just ask what your insurance what their policy is. And keep all your receipts

You should really be seeing more like 60-7hp from this.

The least expensive quote I received was $4140 for the supercharger, $360 for the fit kit, and $600 in labor. The highet labor quote was $950.

I'm sure this has been commented on countless times before, but as a brand newbee to Tacomas, it sure sounds like a LOT of money for just 68hp. Much simpler and cheaper bolt-ons will do that in many other vehicles.
I havent really spent the time to research this motor, (its my truck!..not my autocrosser) but at 236hp with 4 liters it sure seems seriously undertuned. Built from the ground up more for long term reliablily I guess. Regardless, I guess for use as a truck, torque is what you want.
And, did someone say the that these superchargers can use the oem hood scoop? I cant imagine the new 2012 scoops could be practical for anything. Theyre no more than a slit.. seems to me pure cosmetics.

The scoop is for cosmetic appeal only so yes it can be used with a supercharger, but does not do anything. As for HP small gain on the stock tune huge gain with an aftermarket tune and modifications.

The price I paid for the Fit kit and supercharger was $4000.00 even and $90 an hour for labor at 8 hours so $720 all said and done $4720 plus tax. Not a bad price from a dealer. So close to getting it installed cant wait. :)

68hp devided by $4490. (buy from trdparts at $3890, and $600 install)
    =$66. per hp.

68 HP might not sound like much, but if you came from a 1st gen Tacoma (190HP v6) to a 2nd gen Tacoma (236HP v6) then you can attest for what a difference that 46 HP makes specially considering the 1st gen was so much smaller/lighter than the 2nd gen on top of it.

so 68HP will make a huge difference, no doubt.

my 2001 had a TRD SC that added 60HP and it completely changed that truck into a different animal....and yet my 2nd gen blows the doors of it in stock trim.
