If you want a louder intake, buy one that is designed that way, also you will notice the dont eliminate the vacuum lines.

    Use them.

I have a spare AEM brute force intake system with a brand new red filter I swap off and on with my stock box and the stock box with just a 5 inch deck plate runs better and is not quite or loud.

Well i dont really think we are eliminating the vacuum lines. I mean they are hooked up so they shouldnt be affected right?

    Duct tape.

And I understand the point about the vacuum line. I'm curious as to the purpose of this specific vacuum hose since I didn't notice any differences after I did it.... and like I said, it's been that way for almost a year now. :notsure:

No matter you slice it, you are altering the design of the stock air box function.

Regardless of how you re route or tape off.. its your truck but its not intended to be used without the silencers or rubber hoses attached in the proper location.

Toyota designed a cold air intake for our trucks, there is no reason to alter the design other than the deck plate.

Not that it matters but you will instantly fail any kind of smog visual inspection as well.

Yeah I think it does eliminate that vacuum line..... since it's no longer flows with the intake tube. Hard to describe it.

I understand what you did is tape off the holes, whats the point? more noise and the risk of tape tearing from the pressure and going down your intake tube and making a clearly functional piece of it no longer function because of no airflow?

I fail to see why you would go through so much trouble with the risks involved and no real gains other than noise.

It is your truck and you will do what you will, I would never do such a thing with mine.

I can take some tomorrow. They are really nice, they fit perfectly. They will definitely prevent my carpet from smelling like an old dog every spring.

    Bahahahahahaq x2 :D
What's the purpose of the silencers other than silence? Seems like they just disprupt air flow a bit in order to make the truck not as loud.... And I can see why Toyota would do that as the typical Tacoma buyer is looking for a quiet, normal sounding vehicle. :notsure: But that's just my opinion of which I am backing up with absolutley zero facts.

Gorilla Duct Tape FTW! lol :D

And I respect that, buddy.

    haha im not mad. :)

I just am looking out for folks doing less than ideal things to the trucks they love so dearly.

The point of the silencers is just that, the airflow is so fast it is not affected by the holes in the tube.

So if you want to tape off the one with no hose attached it will probably sound the same as with the one with the hose taped off, try it and let us know.. that way you can keep the airflow from the engine attached.

My point is , see how all different intakes available use the hose.
