Maybe it's the lift and how we get out.
This truck has a lift I found it on cars.com look at the seat.

That's actually pretty decent condition for 78k miles. But my leather is wearing in pretty much the exact same spot.

This is a common problem. Luckily my friend told me about his fabric being ripped by this knob and advised me to take it off. I listened to his advise and have mine stored in the cubby right between the seats.

He doesn't have a lift by the way and it ripped his fabric. I definitely think it's the way you get in and out of the vehicle.

Thanks guys I'm pulling the knob off . I'l get the seat redone later, I think way to much, (how i get out, or in ect.). Toyota should just forget about that seat adjustment and light up the 4x4 switch.

agreed!!! it’s pointless that or make the seats have power adjustments.

If you get in and out of the vehicle without sliding off the seat you will not have this issue. What happens is obviously your ass slides across the bolster when you get in and out and puts the weight on it enough to force the side of the seat into the knob. If you can remember to use the grab handle to actually lift you in and out this will not happen. Given the somewhat awkward lowness of the tacos seats to roof clearance it is probably not an easy task if you are tall.
