it's easy to just say that!!! why? you say that, we need numbers...what is it worth? you seem to know a lot but you still have to elaborate....otherwise i would say that YOU grossly underestimated the net worth of the vatican and overestimated poverty....

Sounds like you want to prove me wrong more than I want to prove myself right. Go right ahead.

people and organizations of faith helping the poor around the world happens every day

this is like saying...taxing the rich more in America will do away with the 16 trillion debt. (here is a clue: it wouldn't even put a dent in the debt if you confiscated ALL of the 1%ers assets)

btw...what is the Vatican worth? have you had it appraised? are you a international real estate broker or appraiser?

...and, what exactly would be the cost needed to end poverty?

btw #2...between 10 & 15 trillion dollars has been spent on the "war on poverty" in America alone, since 1965...with dismal results. so, it seems...money alone is not the answer.

sorry Mr. zoopla...your post is poopla. :D

My only real beef with this is that it is assumed that the religious do / donate more than non-believers do. Of course on a mass scale they do simply because of the size of the group, but I would curious to see the numbers on an "average individual" scale.

I know annecdotal evidence and the "well I did this..." statements don't amount to much, but in my military career I can honestly say that when the collection plate goes around my section for a cause, I am usually one of the first to fork over cash, and there are few people that donate more than I (in fact tomorrow I am coming in to work 6 hours early and using my Taco to help move a widowed spouse of a military member from her house to the Bob Hope Village).

I don't believe I said religious people are more charitable than non-believers. I was only responding to zoopla's post.

and I'm also one who subscribes to the "not advertise your charity". However, good on you for helping that widowed military spouse.

No Larry, you did not. I'm just saying that seems to be a thought process that is prevalent in society. Didn't mean to insinuate that you were implying that... mah bad!

I don't generally advertise my charity either, just was using it as an example of what I have seen, annecdotal as it may be... haha :D

Sorry I was trying to subtley imply that I stopped concerning myself with which denomination I was and became much more concerned with the Man I follow.

    From a 1943 yearbook.

The words "under God" was added in the 1950's.

It is very easily divisible by adding two words.

I've never thought of the irony of those three words. "... under god, indivisible..."
That's like saying "our club is open to everyone. boys only"
