hey brother I didnt read the entire thread so for that I apologize but did you take a peek in your owners manual? Toyota usually explains the controls and functions in their vehicles so your answer is probably there. If its not I apologize but I am betting if you open your glove box and pull out the manual it will explain your controls, how to operate them and the conditions in which said controls should be operated.

Yes I jacked up my left rear tire and stayed in 2wd with "auto LSD" on and the truck would not at all move with me reving the truck up to 4000rpm. I dont expect it to be fully locked like a locker because its not but I feel it should do something other than be a fully, completely, 100% open diff with "auto LSD" engaged

Yes the owners manual says to hit the "auto LSD" when one tire is spinning from ditch or rough surface. Well with my truck the "auto LSD" would not help in these situations since its still staying 100% an open diff

Ok. So you understand your truck is operating 100% correct and if you want more traction than you have, your option is to purchase an after market locker?

ARB. Outside of that your best options is momentum.

See you all have so many jokes but cant seriously pay attention and help. I realize I have a completely open diff but with "auto LSD" engaged I felt by it using the brakes some of the power could be redirected to the tire not in the air but the one with traction

So in every setting of my truck I will have 100% open diff and it will not at all act like an a trac where it transfers power by applying brakes to a certain tire? This is all I was asking. Can you explain what the "auto LSD" does then?

That is how I felt it should work. My truck does not do that and I wanted to make sure before I bring it in to get it fixed. I was told by the dealership today when I brought it in that a trac and lsd does not do anything off road which I know is not true

With all these symptoms I have had 0 beeping or any sign of it working. Only difference at all I have seen is the "auto LSD" light coming on but I have seen no other differences.

Wish I could have bought the off road but I needed long bed

When you spin the tires you don't get a beeper going off and the VSC light on the dash ?

No I can spin my tires all day long and get no beeping. I take off and roost and get no beeping at all and no lights on the dash.

First off I'm just goofing around so nothing personal seriously, but given what you have described, your truck is fine. limited slip simply allows more power to be applied to the tire with traction, thats it. So if both tires have no traction its no different than a open diff (over simplifying). Its like this, open dif, limited slip, ATRAC, lockers. Your one step above an open diff in ALSD. You dont have lockers and you dont have ATRAC. Your a tad better than a Honda Civic. Thats about it. If you are skeptical of what your being told, by all means take it to the dealership and have them inspect it. I vote your truck is fine, but I'm willing to accept I am wrong.
