Norcal Spotted and BS Thread

That was quite the earthquake this morning. House shaking and you could hear it go away. I was in the shower and it was even loud in there. 911 calls coming in from Meeks Bay in Tahoe all the way down to Sonora. Yet, USGS hasn't updated their earthquake map. I was that was all automated? I guess someone has to actually input it?

With all their sensors everywhere, you'd think it would be recoded by now. It's been almost an hour since it happened.

 

You'd think so. There was one in Bridgeport at 0625 today. But that's the last one (there have been other magnitude 1ish quakes today in the region).

 

Interesting. We're getting info from a friend on FB who lives up the street. Her husband is a detective with the sheriff's dept. One of her friends said she was down at the lake and saw two rockets from two different directions fly over. Maybe the military is up to something. That would explain why there's nothing on USGS.

 

News just reported Stanislaus county sheriff is reporting they think a meteorite may have impacted. If that's the case, it must have been big to have felt it as far away as Tahoe.

 

If a meteorite hit, that would trigger the sensors.

 

NWS just reported that the sonic boom was caused by a comet called Thatcher and that a piece of it broke off and impacted the ground. Wild!

 

Lyrid meteor shower? Really?

I knew the meteor shower was last night, just had no idea that the meteor shower was caused by this comet. Learn something new everyday.

Here in sacto they mention something about a big boom that people were calling 911 about

I slept through it in Placerville and I am a light sleeper.

 

I'm in Pollock Pines. A little closer to Tahoe than Sac.

 

Oh nice. Yeah I'm not sure what that could have been. It didnt feel like an earth quake since it was so abrupt. Never felt a meteor hit before. Whatever it was it had to have to some damage cause it sounded like they were bombing avalanche control only with 20x as much as what they normally use.
