The factory system is decent(not entune), but is a far cry from what I need in terms of volume. I would like some opinions on what I am proposing to do eventually.

-New head unit, single din with at least 4v preout. Not into double dins, as most double navi's aren't worth it in terms of features.

-Components in the front doors, coaxials in the rear doors. Are there 6x9 separates available?)

-Hopefully a Mr Marv subwoofer box, that will house a 12" sub, AND an 8" midbass. Yes, midbass. I'm talking 80hz to maybe 500hz(or even higher). I grew up with systems that consisted of 6.5" components and a 12" sub, and now that I'm a little older, and not so much a basshead(well, I still am, but...) I would like to build a system that covers all, if not most of the frequency range. I think the 8" midbass mounted alongside the 12" sub in a Mr Marv box would suffice, as the frequencies are low enough not to be directional, but also still provide that higher bass "kick".

In terms of crossovers, the new deck may have active crossovers, and the amp/s themselves may have more tweakability to achieve the bandpass frequencies for the midbass.

    Thoughts?

4 Components with tweeters...passive crossovers in the front all active from the deck...sub in the rear.

Also the factory system is garbage...the speakers are paper. I just did a full system install on my 2012. I have two kicker L5 8" Solo Barics for subwoofers...perfect setup imo. Most people think I have two 12s :)

I agree on the deck. Most DD units aren't worth the extra cash IMO. I have an Alpine CDA-117. Perfect for me as what I need is USB, tuneable EQ, iPod compatability, 3 sets of 4V pre-outs, etc. Great unit. Don't think they make it anymore though, but I'm sure there's something similar available.

I have the Alpine running to an Alpine MRP-500 amp to a JL 10W1v2 sub right now. Works well, but I'm kind of looking for something more. Maybe a JL 10W3v3.

Plan the system well, anything is better than the factory setup. I was surprised when I ran my own speaker wire instead of using the factory wiring this week. With the factory wiring, I was never really satisfied with the sound, and thought I may swap out my trusty 6x9s in the door. After the new wire, the sound really opened up and I gained the top and bottom end that I felt was missing. So plan on replacing everything, including the wiring in your system. Well worth it in the end.

    Hey Commander,

Did you snap any shots of your setup ? I am looking for a SUB or two for my 2012 TRD... I have a couple of 10" RF subs left over from a car years ago and i wondered if one would fit behind the rear seat in my DC? Did you mount the 8" 's behind the rear seats ?

ok, conferred with Mr Marv, and I'm thinking of going with 2 10's, and 6x9s all around(separates up front). I'm just awaiting for the stereo dash kit to come out from scosche.
