Dinner tonight was honey mustard pork chops, couscous, with corn and as the app its fresh mozzarella with basil,tomato, and balsamic vinegar.



It was nice to walk in and have this plated for me... she did good

when it comes to burgers i’m a grill master! cooked me these 2 the other night.

 

i add this to ALL my hamburgers! may add some more stuff when i find something good.

I am a little embarrassed and more than a little pissed off.

I've managed to get to the ripe old age of 37, and a good four or five years into serious cooking, and not known something that should, honestly, be taught in grade school to every red-blooded American child.



You can freeze bacon.

Whack a 16 oz package in half, and put half of each side into a ziptop bag. As it just so happens, you now have have the perfect portion for a manly BLT fresh at a moments' notice.

The secret is freezing it raw. It'll keep for a month easy, as if it'll last that long. You can yank it from the freezer and put it right into the pan, and separating frozen bacon takes all of 30 seconds with running water.

That I have come so far in life without this essential knowledge is saddening, but I will swallow my hurted pride and make sure my friends here know of this magic as well.

works with all meat if you need to slice it uber thin. bacon, chops into tiny bits partially frozen too.

 

This is the dinner I made the other night. It was like close to 10 lb of pork loin that was roasted over onions apple juice for over an hour. Throw in the carrots that were roasted as well.

 

It'd be really funny if I weren't 100% serious.

As near as I can tell, I was told at some young impressionable age that you can't freeze bacon. Since I grew up in a non-cooking household, I was never told otherwise.

I have apparently carried that mistaken belief all these years, until this very afternoon.

Yea, I know. My wife said the same thing. Well, first she said she wants a divorce. Thankfully, she was mostly kidding. But, yea, I've only eaten bacon at home maybe half a dozen times in my adult life cause I never wanted to be one guy eating a pound of bacon in three days otherwise it would go bad and I'd have to throw it out.

Then, once I starting figuring out how to cook, the wife figured I just didn't like bacon, or somesuch.

So anyways. There ya go, in case anyone here needed something to make fun of me for, as if me being me didn't already hand out ammo by the truckload.
