i bet if you stuff anybody thats 6'2 and 50+ pounds overweight in a backseat of most vehicles they make it look small. the reviewer needs to check out a fully carpeted pedophile van with the round rear-side windows and the desert theme painted on the side. right up his alley i'm thinking.

I'm not sure you can review a mid-sized truck and complain so much about it being a mid...sized...truck. I love mine and you should see guys trying to park their quad cab full sized rigs in the parking garage at work:)

I put no credibility into what this guy said. He couldn't even figure out how to put the tie down back into the bed.

I drove a Hilux overseas and fell in love with it. I needed a smaller truck to fit in my garage and the double cab short bed barely fit. It is essentially the same size as my Ford F150 single cab/regular bed. Funny thing I pulled up to a 2002 Tundra and they look about the same. The Taco has grown for sure. Interior size: I am 5'8" and my boy is the same who sits in back. there is space between his knees and the front seat. This truck is no rougher ride than my Ford or my Dodge Ram (my opinion better).

Only complaints: a bit anemic on power, crappy fuel economy (18mpg, it is 2012 can't we do bette?). The overall size has grown a bit to much over time. But I guess so have we as a population....

I don't agree with everything the guy said but I do agree with some. These trucks have horrible gas mileage compared to others and the technology is from yesterday. Nothing on these that tells you avg. mpg., avg. speed, and so on like my wifes Corolla has. I also don't like the fact that Toyota still has drum brakes on these trucks? I believe they are the only trucks still doing this.

The tie down are easy to use so the guy was on crack if he couldn't figure it out. With the rough ride, it is a 4x4 truck. What does he expect it to ride like? And to me, my truck is not that uncomfortable. Plus, if you have a plush ride, then you sacrifice on what it can haul and tow because you get rid of the stiffer suspension.

With the backseat on the double cabs, that guy is a big guy so that is not fair to say a mid size truck has no room. For a guy his size, no mid size truck will.

I love the Tacoma's but do wish Toyota would change some little things about the truck. The previously mentioned things and I wish like crazy they still offered a transfer case that was manual on these trucks. I hate the knob.

I recently traded in my 2008 tacoma for a 2012 trd with entune, and this was after alot of research even with the full size trucks. I love the new tacoma, but everyone has there own opinion. Some dont like the entune and it is alittle over priced system but I love it anyways. I love the fact that 4 years later I got the same amount on trade in for my 2008 that I paid for it in 2008, which gave me 12000 in equity towards the new one so that kept my interest when researching a new truck. Like my man said up top, if we thought the competition was better we wouldnt own tacomas and be on this forum...boom. Much love to all my fellow taco owners.

Our local dealer wants to get me into a 2012 Double Cab TRD Off Road Package with the Entune. Due to me working for the State, I can get the truck at Invoice plus any rebates. They offered me 22k for my truck which gives me around 11 or 12k of equity. I'm thinking about it but am not sure I want to? My truck is an 07' with only 30k on it and I really love my truck. Plus I only owe slightly more than a year on it and it will be nice when it is finally paid off.

If you are still enjoying your 07...and it's not giving you any problems...

    keep it!

why go into debt for near 20K just to replace a truck w/ basicially the same vehicle.

btw, you are 100% correct about the paid for truck feeling.

I would have to say you're considering this. I don't know many dealers who just randomly call their customers asking if they want to upgrade to a specific vehicle. ;) I am of the school that you should trade every 4-5 model years or 45kmi, whichever comes first. You basically never have to do major work, always have a basically new vehicle, and you've already beat the depreciation.

Or, drive it for 10 years/150,000 mi and figure you've used up it's value. But then you're looking at a private sale to get anything over $2000 for trade and dealing with a bunch of yahoos that want to offer you $1000 or trades for beat up wheelers or dirtbikes cuz they "don't got a vehicle and gots ta git to work"

    I'd trade up.

First, since I'm getting older, with the aches and pains from old injuries getting more noticable, a full-size truck is a bit too much for me to climb into. At the same time, squeezing into a small car is just as difficult. A mid-size truck is nearly ideal, with the added advantage of being able to tote or drag plenty of stuff around.

Second, I find the ride rather enjoyable. It's clearly not as squishy as a luxury sedan, but it's not uncomfortable either - and a blast off-road.

Third, I've had no complaints about the rear seating area in my double cab. There's as much leg room as my previous, even more expensive, BMW 5-series 4-door sedan. And, just like that BMW, on the rare occasion where a large man rides, the women sit in the back while he rides in the front. No problem.

Finally, I just don't get the concept behind a desire for leather seats in a truck. Cloth seats are difficult enough to maintain. Leather would likely be a sheer nightmare.

Needless to say, I don't agree with the video review.

I think if I was changing cars every few years I would go with American car. Easy to buy easy to sell especially if you trading in within warranty period. Full of luxuries and gizmos.
Toyota (Tacoma especially) on other hand is a truck to have for 10 years or more because no major repairs to be done even when you go over 10 years. So when you spend money you pay for quality not bunch of gizmos.

    It's a double edged sword...

Domestic trucks can be bought cheaper, but lose value quicker than Imports (especially Tacoma)...because the new domestic trucks offer deep rebates on the new models.

Hard for a 25-35K truck to be worth much after a year of ownership when a brand new one is offered with a 5K rebate.

I used to trade my Chevy's every year for about 5K. then I had to trade every 6 months for 5K. My last Chevy truck (2008) I kept for 2.5 years and it cost me 15 thousand.

    I'm done with them.

They didn't randomly call me. I brought my wifes Corolla in for service and saw some of the newer options on the 2012 Tacomas and asked a few questions. For the heck of it I saw what they would give me for my truck and what they would sell me another Tacoma for. Now I am just deciding what I want to do but am leaning towards just keeping my truck. Our State has not given us a raise in several years and the cost of living during that time has doubled so getting rid of the truck payment all together would be a nice raise. But if I did trade the truck in, it would at least lower my payments too. If Toyota had plut rear disc brakes on the Tacoma, gave an option for a manual transfer case and had an intrument cluster that also told avg. fuel mpg and other info like my wifes Corolla, then I would have done it but they still have not done those things so basically I am just buying my same truck over again with a slightly different front grill and a few extra benefits. As a result, that is why I am thinking of just keeping what I have.
