I'd like to start of by saying that I am truly blessed...I have a good job, a healthy family and a beautiful wife. With said, I have had a rough few weeks. Work has been an absolute stressful nightmare, my birthday a few weeks ago sucked and all the little things seem not to be going my way. Heck even last Saturday I got a chicken club from McDonalds and got down the road to find that they left out the chicken!!!!

Well about 2 weeks ago I bought myself the Bilstein 5100's for my birthday. B/C of work and my hectic schedule they just sat in my house until this Friday. My buddy owns a collison shop and was going to install them for me. I call Friday and he says that he has to go out of town and can't get it done.

So today (Saturday) I say "What the heck!" . The way things have been going, I deserve something nice, so I decide to bite the bullet and just pay to get my 5100's installed. As my luck would go, my regular places are closed on Saturday and the other places I go to can't get me in.

So as my last resort I go to the local Meineke shop and the owner looks at my shocks, looks at my truck and says "No problem". He quotes me $150 total and I say "OK". This is at 11:00 AM and he says that he has some in front of me, but it won't be a problem getting it out by the end of the day.

At 4PM I call and he tells me they have the tires off and are about to start it. He says they close at 6PM and are planning to stay a little late if needed.

My wife and I are going out on a "date" and drop the kids off at my mom's at 5:45 Pm and start heading that way. I am totally stoked about my new lift and already planned on looking at new wheels on Monday. As I get about 5 minutes away my phone rings. Its the receptionist and she says she has bad news. They can't get my truck done b/c they don't have the right tools (ended up they didn't have a spring compressor) and wants to know if I can leave it until Monday. UHHHH no I can't I tell her.

She apologizes and says that she is sorry, but the good news is that if I bring it in Monday she will give me the same price!!! WELLLLLL What an freakin' DEAL!!!!!!!(please note the sarcasm)

To say the least I am upset and really disappointed. I get my keys and as I exit the parking lot I hear what sounds like a blender full of marbles!!!! I immediately turn into the parking lot next door to the shop and honk my horn at the owner who is closing the bays door and locking up. I roll my window down and tell him something is definitely not right. He walks over and I tell him what I heard. I drive a little bit forward so he can hear it and he says that it sounds like its coming from the rear of the vehicle.
I exit and tell him NO that its definitely coming from the front. He tells me that all they did was take the tires off and never did anything to the stock shocks. I look underneath and can tell by the dirt underneath that he was telling the truth. At that time he acts real weird and asks to take it into the shop. I say OK and he drives it in.

He proceeds to go to the drivers side front tire and then I see what happened. All the lug nuts were just hand tightened. He tightened them and then his wife had the nerve to say, "Well we hope to see you Monday".

Yeah right!!!! I guess I should have gone with my first instincts and never gone to Meineke. Sorry for the long post but I just had to vent.

Sorry to hear about all that crap you had to go through. We've all gone through those rough patches, hang tough and stay strong... and don't ever go back to Meineke!

Go easy Bro! I know I would be a mess especially with my OCD kickin in! But sometimes it takes a trajedy to realize how lucky we are. My friend of about 15 years was in the hospital with his daughter because she was giving birth, well Ill make this short. Everything was fine and when the doctor and nurses told my friend and his wife to go see the baby in the nursery his daughter Mayra passed away. I could not imagine the emotions that were felt at that moment. Take the time to be thankful you get to see the Sun rise and set with your family.

Exactly!!!! Thats the way I've been trying to look at it. With the economy the way it is, there are a lot of people who would love to be in my position. And I've got a wonderful wife and 3 awesome kids to boot. I've been laughing it off, but sometime I just go..........DANG!!!!

My condolences to your buddy.......A parent should never have to go through that. I couldn't imagine

Dude, that could have been so much worse! That's why I did it myself, I'm painfully obsessive and triple check every bolt and screw.

Dude...lighten up on yourself. You're focused on the negatives and are probably over-reacting to things that you would normally just blow off.

As for the shop...that is pretty bad that they thought they could install front shocks on coils without a spring compressor. I'm not sure if Menikee's are privately owned franchises but you could always write a letter to the regional manager. They may give you a coupon for a free oil change or something but I wouldn't let them do any work on my truck.

I had a Meineke do my oil once and found a wrench wrapped in a rag 1 week later in my engine compartment. It was sitting on the front edge and held there by the closed hood. No damage but I will NEVER go back! I neglected to mark my oil filter but I don't think they chnaged it.

I had the dealer do my first oil change (included in purchase). The cone around the filter is FILLED with oil. This is the largest Yota dealer in Western PA. On a brand new truck, they were that sloppy. It's pretty easy to pull the plug and allow the oil to drain out. I didn't say anything but will do my own oil changes from here on.
