so have a 2012 DCSB and the voice controls quit working from the steering wheel and I am debating whether or not to just replace the thing with an aftermarket unit or let Toyota replace it under warranty it is and SR5 without the entune system, thing is I really like the steering wheel controls and BT is there any aftermarket unit that utilizes these features? I looked around and all the double din type units say they don't fit a 2012? don't know what the difference is anybody out there switch one out yet? What did you wind up getting and did you get the steering wheel controls to work?

as of now, there isn't a dash kit for our model year trucks. supposedly, scosche will have one ready to go in mid may. I'm dying here, not having loud music in my truck.

have Toyota replace it obviously so at least it works until you get the aftermarket and you know it isn't something that would need to be fixed anyway for the aftermarket to work

I just posted a detailed reply to this topic (pending moderator approval) with replies from representatives at Metra, Scosche and Best Kits. I have a 2012, 6-speed on order, so I'm right there with you in wanting them to release a properly fitting kit already.

I just replaced the factory speakers in the door and my local stereo shop installed a little amp that works off of the factory head unit. It is a Rockford Fosgate PBR300x4. It is tiny and fits right under the front drivers seat. It made a world of difference in the way the systems sounds even with the factory head unit. It is great!

Just put a deck in with the older kit and buy the new one when they release it. The 05-11 kit works, it just has some small gaps along the sides. I had the system replaced 2 weeks after I bought the truck, some tiny gaps are worth having my music back.

So a little update. Took my truck into toyota and found out it is my phone causing the problems it seems like the blackberry is giving toyota problems and there is no fix for it. When I was at the dealer the tech turned off my phone and it started working perfectly and when I turned my phone back on it wouldn't let me access any of the voice commands weird, I asked the tech if there was any fix he said no so I ordered a Kenwood 2din with built in bluetooth from crutchfield and will install that in a few days because that was not the only problem I have encountered with the factory head unit. I play all my music off a usb stick and for some reason it doesn't want to play some of the songs I thought it might be corrupted data but my wifes 4runner plays the whole list no problem so screw it I will go with the aftermarket head unit. One more thing the tech did try to pair and unpair my phone and that didn't work I had already tried that but I did find out something interesting when I got home I tried one last thing I removed the battery from my phone and did a hard reboot and guess what it started working but for under 300 I can replace with a quality aftermarket head unit so heck with it that's what I am going to do.

I like how you the Toyota Tech. said BB is causing the problem...I do believe that BB was around a lot longer than you 2012 and that they should provide a deck that would support BB (even despite the downturn in the BB marketplace).

agreed but I guess the taco is the only model having that problem truth be told I hate the bb but work provides it so I can't complain to much.
Another thing I didn't like about the stock stereo is that it wouldn't automatically grab your phone list like most aftermarket units, still good effort on toyotas part but I think they could of done better for the price, and I just took out the front speakers so I could put some new ones in, wow what a joke those are, pretty pathetic this isn't 1970 they could put a decent sound system in for not to much more money.
