I believe in micro evolution but not macro evolution. Micro evolution has been proven. Things like there is a bird in a tropical climate. I believe it is a type of finch if I remember correctly? During a certain part of the year it has a tiny beak for eating certain types of foods but as the climate changes and it migrates, it beak also grows because the island it migrates too requires a longer beak to get food in hard to reach places.

But I reject the macro evolution idea that we came from the goo to the zoo and now there is you. God created us in His image. He has told us how creation happened and even how old or I should say young the earth and all of creation is.

I know many do not agree with me on this and that is fine. I respect their right to disagree but a person will never convince me otherwise. I believe even our science proves the Bible to be correct in many areas. But no matter what, people will still think otherwise.

Nobody. He has always existed. He describes Himself as living at all times present and at all locations at once. Can I explain how or even fathom in my mind how that is possible? Nope, I can't. That is the faith part of things but I do believe Him. He spoke everything into existence from nothing. He created life from nothing. And I think it is awesome He created everything simply to create and show man His awesomeness and then desires to interact with us and show us many wonderful things.

Pretty egocentric thinking modern science has to agree with your opinion.

Oz, to answer your question on how I can know or other beliefs systems know there way is the only right way, I can only offer personal life experiences.

I know you do not know me but I will share a life experience that I have always fallen back on. When I was a child we had a lady come to our church and ask for prayer. My family obliged and began praying for her not knowing the issues at hand. I remember this lady being very petite and have a very quiet voice. Not long after my family was praying over her, we found out she was demon possessed because this thing took over her body. It had a very deep bellowing voice that would have been physically impossible for this woman to speak this deep. My family then began praying Jesus name for this demonic being to leave her. It took several hours of praying over this lady but I will never forget this as long as I live that every time they would say the name of Jesus, this thing would scream for them to stop saying that name. Eventually the demon did leave this woman and when she came too she began weeping. But when it left her, it left with such a loud scream that again, there is no way humanly possible for this woman to have produced a noise that loud. It turns out she had been dabbling in the occult and had opened up some doors she should not have.

Now the Bible teaches us that there is power in the name of Jesus alone and that the enemy or Satan and his demons and fallen angels will flee at His name alone. That is exactly what happened and I witnessed first hand but as scary as that thing was, I will never forget how it could not stand the name of Jesus. Now if Jesus was not God and was just a mere man, or even a made up figure, then there is no way that just a name alone would have the power over that demon that I witnessed. It did not want to let that poor woman go but it finally did when it figured out we were not going to stop praying in Jesus' name.

Now I don't say this to try and make a public spectacle or get people to send me money so I can buy my newest mansion or Leer Jet like some tv evangelists do. I am simply sharing this story to tell you why I believe what I do. In my years of living, I have had other proofs to confirm in my heart what I believe is true but that was a pretty major thing for me that really was a deciding factor.

That's not what I said. I said there is scientific proof that proves the Bible right.

I don't mind theories but I wish people would teach theories as theories and not fact. I also love to look at all theories and see if it is possible for them to fit in the Word of God.

But if you look at God's Word, we are taught the earth was round long before science was teaching that. We are taught the molecular structure and the weather patterns and currents of the world. Tons of other stuff too but I am simply giving a few examples.

I'm going to say I was around 9 or 10. Maybe a little older. We moved into a new church building when I was 14 and this happened in the old building.

Satan does not punish evil. At one time it is believed he was the highest angel and then rebelled. He then got 1/3 of the angles in heaven to also rebel too and they were all cast out of heaven. Jesus would later on tell us that Hell was not created for mankind but Satan and his dominion or fallen angels and demons. Jesus would then continue that He has no pleasure when even the most wicked person parishes.

One day God has promised to make everything sinless once again but He is longsuffering and He keeps holding out for that one last person to repent. He, being all knowing, knows when that will be and knows when the perfect time will be. I don't but He does and when that time comes, God will deal with Satan and his dominion, but He will also deal with everyone else too. We will either be judged for what we did for the kingdom of God or we will be judged for our rejection of Christ.

You are welcome to your beliefs and I am not trying to change them, but I'm a geologist and my training was in paleontology. Evolution is something I work with all the time so I won't let that one go without comment. I won't disagree with one word if you keep religious arguments in the realm of philosophy but if you put science in it, I will say something, and particularly in this case. ;)

You have effectively redefined these scientific terms, micro- and macroevolution. In science these are strictly descriptive terms so we know what level of evolution we are talking about. There is no difference in the processes that result in either; there is only one process at work: evolution. The argument above frames these as two distinct processes, and is 100% inappropriate. If you use science in a religious argument, you still have to use scientific terms as they are used in science. You don't get to redefine them. Your argument necessarily implies that there is a barrier between the two barring microevolution from becoming macroevolution. So what is it? What logical, scientific, or biological reason is there for your argument?

What about the fact that organized religion has killed more people in this world then anything/anyone else? All religions including Christianity have murdered countless people in gods name.

Catholic church has worked hard to cover up decades of child abuse by some of it's highest ranking members. How can anyone follow that religion? They're still actively working on covering it up.

I find it all very weird that people blindly follow evil pretending to be righteous. Ok not weird, amusing.

Every man should think for himself and come up with his one ideas.

One of the greatest gifts I have is a very photographic memory. I remember details of when I was a baby. Certain doctors visits, my first day of school and falling off of the teter totter and landing on my neck and having to go see the chiropractor.

I respect your opinion but this was not something I just imagined. Honestly, it really freaked me out when it happened but I remember every detail of it as if it happened yesterday.

Since then I have had other similar experiences as I do work in the ministry but I shared that one because it was the first and I had never experienced anything like that before.

Also, I would like to ask everything something. Regardless of if you agree with me or disagree with me, that is fine. I respect your opinions and freedoms to believe what you want. But please take anything I say in love if you agree with it or not. In typing my answers, you cannot hear my tone of voice, see facial expressions or see body language. In past times, I have had people think I am saying something in anger when my intent was to say something love and tenderness. That is the only way I will ever respond to questions about my beliefs. Never in anger. I will simply agree to disagree with someone who does not believe the same.

No one can ever answer my question

" How can believers of different religions be so sure their version of things is the only correct one "

    " because that's what I was taught "

    doesn't really answer the question

    or maybe it does

OZ no one answers because they expect you to go "Oh, ok, that makes sense" and if you don't get it they move on to someone else that does. The name of the game is to find weak minded individuals to cough up their $$ to help build a bigger church.
