Quick Wheel question for OEM TRD vs. Sport

I have a the 16" TRD wheels that came stock on my truck. I'm interested in getting a set of 17" OEM Sport wheels. My question is this...are there any issues that I need to be aware of if I go to the bigger wheel? The tires are the same size at 265, so I don't think there'll be any speedometer issues? Thanks for any help

 

None at all if you get 265 65r17 vs. 265 70r16. Same total height. If you get 265 70r17 there might be.

 

IMO, I don't know why you'd want more rim than rubber. Lower profile tires = street only.

 

Not that I want more rim than rubber, but thats the tire thats on them already. I want to be able to mount them up and go right now and will add more rubber later when I get a lift. I just like the way the 17's look on the Tacoma better than the 16's and thought I try it out.

 

265s on 17s... i wouldnt call that low profile

OP, Are you going 265/70/17 or 265/65/17? Bigger wheels wont give you any issues, in fact some 16 inch rims have problems clearing the calipers. OEM ones would never, but some aftermarket ones will

 

Did the OP say he was a hardcore offroader? Didn't' see that anywhere up there.

 

I just assumed the TRD was an offroad - my bad....

Hey Guys, I'll be using the truck/wheels for highway driving primarily. I take it offroad about once/year when I go hunting, but even then its usually jeep trails or packed dirt, no big climbing or anything. Anyway, I really just like the look of the Sport 17's and was wondering if I should expect any issues if I picked them up? Thanks for all of your input.
