Hey Brian....I was wondering who did the install of your shocks, etc in Sacramento? I live about 5 minutes from Prairie City (I liked your video) and am looking for a shop to install some 5100's and maybe a AAL.

I installed them with the assistance of Seth...aka PRS TiFJ. He has since sold his trucks so I don't know if he still has the spring compressor. If you like I can ask him tommorow... he can get the 5100s done pretty quick but the AAL may take an hour or two. I did that part myself but extra help is needed to wiggle your rear axle.

I asked him, he has since sold his spring compressor. You could find yourself a shop that has a spring compressor, such as a Les Schwab, and ask them to install. You can either have them do the entire install, which only cost me 100 bucks a few years ago, or you can have them just do the springs after you pull them out. It only takes a few minutes to pop them out. The rear leaf pack would take the longest, but if you have a good set of tools I don't mind helping, we could have it done in an hour or two if we both go hard at it. I am not keen on renting a spring compressor from VatoZone, they're considered death traps.

Hey involved been reading all over the place about the fox 2.5 & 2.0 how they working with the 285's and feel on and off road? Also why you did the 2.0 I the back and 2.5 up front?

Package deal more than anything. 2.5's IIRC are considered overkill for our trucks, but more is always better right? 2.5's are larger with more capacity for oil, so they cool off better. I like kickin it up to speed offroad, if shocks get hot, then they fade, etc... you get the picture. Never been there personally, but I can't imagine it being fun. 2.0's in the rear are pretty much standard around here, I kinda went with the flow but I imagine its simply because the rear end is alot lighter than the front, therefore less stress on the shocks.

Overall, the front rides as to be expected, a little stiff on the road, but offroad, you can tell they were made for it. My leaf pack in the back is very soft, so it rides as such on the road, but off road the shocks definitely kick in. I bought my setup as a package deal from Downsouth Motorsports. Highly recommended. I had a couple hiccups among my setup and they went out of their way to help me out. They offer free shipping. If you decide to pull the trigger, call them, ask for Marco, tell him I said Hi

Do you happen to remember what your rear measures were before you installed the overload leaf?

No, but the overload leaf only lifts by its thickness. It has no effect on the leaf pack itself. I think it was half inch... maybe 3/4... been a bit though. Easy to go measure yourself.

I originally had the Scosche adapter in my system to retain the stock amp. I had since put in seperate amplifiers, so I took the scosche adapter out. Only had a stock wiring harness laying around so I had to double check that everything was correct on it. It was for the most part, however I took out all the unnecessary pins/wires and cleaned it up. Since I'm running amps, all audio goes via RCA. All I need is PWR, GND, REM, and .... in revision 3, I figured out what wire was the dimmer in the JBL harness, which is NOT typical of the stock harness. It was the green wire. So I reinstalled the dimmer pin/wire in the corrected location.

in the revision two, I realized I had messed up and not needed the REM wire pinout on my harness, since the stereo side already had one


Don't mind my ugly black tape. I only used it because I used cheap automotive connectors that don't crimp well so I smashed them with a hammer. Afterwards, the insulation was sliding a bit so I just taped it up. Its temporary and not in my fashion to use cheap stuff and black tape, but I plan on getting a new stereo soon, so I'll have to redo it then.

 

Inspiration was because I wanted to go back to my old early 2000's Premier head unit. The new sony I bought just wasn't cutting it anymore. If anyone wants stereo gear, lemme know, I will be putting it up for cheap soon... maybe in a couple months when I finally get back home and settled in
