So the other day i was offroading over here in Chula Vista underneath the 125 bridge and i was pulled over by a sherrif and he told me to leave or be sited. i was surprised because normally when i go out there the border patrol guys just normally wave at me, and on top of that there are no sights saying offroad activity prohibited. so have any of u guys got tickets or go out there?

I got a ticket for it once but it was total bull shit. I was on a dirt trail that goes down to a creek by my house. Its normally open all year for campers, fishermen, and hunters. I was on my way out on a Saturday morning after fishing and got stopped by a game commissioner. He told me it was shut down from may 14 until September 1.. He said there was a sign near the trail enterence and when I asked him to show me the sign, it wasn't there anymore. I still got the fine.

and just because no one took the time to specifically say "You can't be here" doesn't mean you are welcome any time you'd like. I don't know the specifics of that area...but I've seen people get chased out of spots and/or ticketed for trespess in similar situations.

The area it sounds like you were in should had signs saying wildfower rehabilitation or some such... I got told to leave there about a year ago.

Yah, once in 1976... on the beach at Ponto (South Carlsbad)... when it was all sand... My high school friends hopped into my Jeep and another friend's Bronco (in Escondido) and we went to have a beach party... Lots of firewood, so I simply drove to the fire ring to unload... as did my friend in the Bronco. We just left our rigs there to hear the stereo (8 track) play... As it was getting near sundown, the cops show up and write us up for operating the vehicles on the beach. It was like a hundred feet max from 101 to where we were parked, and nobody else was on the beach but us.

Nope, never got a ticket for offroading. I'm the type of guy who can get caught blowing through two stop signs and talk my way out of a ticket :p

I would agree fully, but it was right next to campsites and there's usually a heard of free-range Mexican toddlers running around out there, so makes sense not to do donuts around the campsites.

    Nick,
assuming you were near the 125 where the big bridge is at, maybe you were too close to the prison? I don't know. I'm surprised it was sheriff actually and not SDPD. But yes I agree with Chris, it's usually border patrol. I myself have not had a ticket but others I know of have gotten one.
