thanks to everybody who kind of understands how i feel lol and everybody bashing me? its my first truck. i have alot of pride in it.
anyway im just here more or less for an update. I just got home with 2 estimates from 2 shops.
surprisingly enough the shop that seems to push out better quality quoted almost $200 less than the other. 667 and 859

from what i understand its a good bit more than a simple bumper dent. the bolting mounts are bent and the side of the bumper scratched the back of the truck. so in order to fix that they obviously have to paint it, but to get a smooth nice looking spray they must paint the entire bed side which i assume involves removing my tool box and fender flare. then when they finish they have to put them back and redo my black pinstripe!

I'm sure the guy who hit it feels worse about than you do. If they made the offer to fix it, let them fix it. Go with the lowest estimate. Best thing is to just get it fixed and forget it ever happened. Mistakes happen, that's why pencil makes add erasers on them!

i know and i understand. I am going to let them pay to fix it. I sure dont have the money for it. lol may have to get insurance involved though considering it is more than we originally thought. I think they were thinking it could be bumped out.

This. As long as the frame didn't sustain any serious damage, you should just let the tailgate scratches be and armour over the back instead. I have a collection of door scratches and dents from the PO (hit in a parking lot by somebody). I threw sliders on to keep it from happening again, and was able to talk the PO down $1000 basically because of them because I acted like I cared how they looked (he was honest from the start though and sent me pictures of the damage and whatnot).

Basically, use this in your favour and get a free plate bumper out if it, but at the same time make sure you're not screwing your friend's family.

Should have jumped out of your truck holding your neck and hit the ground as soon as it happened. Just sayin...

Juuuuuusssttt kidddddding. My Dad always told me "if you ever get in a car wreck, get out and flop like a fish". But seriously, I can't stand that kind of stuff lol, so don't flame me lol. If you're actually hurt, then by all means, get what you can, but if you're faking it just to get some cash. F that. I'll rehit you again to cause some actual damage to you and your vehicle if I'm paying for it already :D.

ok so i could either get a red plate bumper or a chrome one. i dont think the other black ones would match my pre existing accessories.. (chrome brush guard, chrome step bars, and chrome tool box)

    +1

Ask him for the cash value of the bumper and put that money toward something nice.

Hell.. if you get a quote from the local dealer, you can buy a plate bumper and still have money for the beer to go with the installation.
But to be cool to the guy, get a price and shipping from Toyota of Dallas and Titus-Will Toyota:

    http://www.toyotapartsales.com/part...75343&section=BODY HARDWARE&group=REAR BUMPER

Chrome is $234, black is $168
$60 for the rubber pads, another $30 for the bracket.
Add a couple hundred for a paint shop to color match it, plus shipping (they are quoting $26 FedEx ground to me for the black one)...
Looks like you're into the $400+ ballpark depending on what the paint shop wants.

yeah but its still "moms" truck. and everytime i suggest removing something from it or adding to it she flips shit. I consider myself lucky to have gotten a sound system! Im seriously hoping that when i turn 18 in June she will not care. but as for now sorry to let everybody down but the chrome is staying and im getting an oe replacement color matched bumper.

I had the same thing happen to my 2000 taco. Estimates were both $1026. That sucks they won't let you get the plate bumper. Maybe the angle of the truck being safer with a heavier bumper? Hell, you got to start somewhere with the black plate stuff. :D You can always take the brush guard off anyway.

Got a third quote today @ $633... I believe my step dad and the guy have reached a common ground. Just waiting on step dad to tell me what I gotta go do next! Hopefully my truck won't be in the shop long after she gets there...
