    I have installed the EZ-Down, and I have to say the cable binds quite a lot. It's not as much that it catches onto the cylinder, but there doesn't seem to be enough space between the tailgate and the taillight for both the strut and the cable to fit when the tailgate is up. For now i just removed the cable altogether, as I don't usually put a lot of weight on the tailgate, but I'll be watching out for how other people have dealt with this (zip-tie, trimming the plastic on the tailgate, etc.) I also expected the strut to be a little stiffer, it certainly slows the tailgate down, and it does not slam down on the bumper, but I was hoping for a more controlled action (a bit like the new Tundra tailgates). I might end up getting another strut down the line for the other side of the tailgate, and get rid of the cables...

    On a different note, I had time to install just the driver side hood strut this morning before both my cordless drill batteries died, and I had to run to work, but I am much more impressed with the hood struts as a product: even just the one strut manages to hold the hood up, and will pretty much hold it at any angle between fully open and closed. Once you get past the terrible feeling of drilling holes in the underside of your truck hood...

    I'd be interested to know if people have noticed a quick loss of compression in these struts over time. I know that like any gas strut they will ultimately get weaker, but I was wondering if the hold up well with time. Thanks!
