What does everyone use for a small fixed blade knife for self protection? To keep in the truck, or a boot knife? I like to be prepared, you never know when you're going to need it.

My thoughts as well. I've had a few problems at the local offroad areas though. You never know.

Don't use one. I have a big fixed blade in the truck (Cold Steel SRK) as a cheap survival/camping/bushcraft piece but I don't carry a small fixed. It's borderline illegal in my local area according to local cops, and I don't want or need the hassle. Also, knives are not in my self defense plan. If you want to fight, I'm trying to leave. But if you pull a knife, I'm pulling a gun.

I carry a Spyderco Endura4 as my EDC for cutting/opening.

I carry a benchmade griptillian with me everywhere. My go bag has a benchmade nimravus fixed blade and my truck keeps my SEAL revolver, and a gerber multi tool.

Great topic, I usually keep a 50 box of .22 ammo, a first aid kit with quick clot and other items, latex gloves, a spare jacket , 2 16 oz water bottles, hat, energy bars, spare mag for my firearm, bino's, mechanix gloves and several folders and at least one fixed blade. Most items are kept in a Maxpedition backpack w/a spare change of clothes.

ok, so as most of you know, the midwest just had some awesome weather roll through it. Being in wichita, I hunkered down with my K9, go bag (BOB, whatever you call it) Guns and some other things and slept fitfully through the entire thing. What would be your best worse-case scenario? I am not talking about zombies, but a real world event that you could see yourself in. For me, its an arbitrary fear of being stranded someplace thats at least a few days from my house without a way to traditionaly defend myself (leaving my edc peice and carbine behind), and without modern transport. I do a lot of international travel and normally slim down my go bag or just keep a small EDC/E&E kit with me. what would you carry?

    discuss please.

I'm am always afraid of the base going on lock down and me not being able to get to my wife and kid. Also working on base I am not allowed to CC at work. More than likely the worst that could happen around here is a tornado. We have plans on what to do if one happens but we also need to work on it some.

If society collapsed all of a sudden and shtf for real then I have a safe with two M9's at my desk. I would procure one of them and try my best to make it the 15 miles to my house. Luckily my wife works two blocks from home and my boys day care is two blocks in the other direction.

Here the best worse case scenario would be either a blizzard or an ice storm. not a real big problem here since the biggest danger would be the cold, and at home we have a wood stove. still got my survival stuff ready though.

Was inspired by this thread and went out and got a box for the bed. I got this box at Lowes the other day.

I packed it with blankets, water, shovel, clothes, rain gear, food, and other stuff like jumper cables, bug spray, etc. Made some room for more stuff behind the seats. Its a great addition to the GHB I carry in the truck.

It has a nice handle (in the pic the inner tray is resting on it) and wheels and if for some reason I have to abandon the truck I can bring it with me and it will supplement the GHB. I drilled two holes in it for a small shackle and chained it to the rear tie down in the bed using a combo lock. Then put two master locks on the box. I'm happy how it turned out and am more prepared for precarious situations if I'm in the truck at the time.
