haha I'm sure the title will get some laughs.Hey guys, I have a buddy that just got a new taco with the factory tow package. He knows the tow ratings and all that jazz. He just came across a smoking deal on a big ass boat. He is figuring somewhere around 10 or 11,000 pounds. Obviously huge for this truck and he knows that. Kinda one of those deals you can't pass up. He doesnt plan to actually tow this thing on the street but just pull it out of the water. Could it be done? He would literally be going 100 yards. Just out of the water and to the side of the ramp. Would the truck pull it out or would he rip the shit out of the back end of the truck? Would he kill the truck doing this. I've seen some crazy setups pull stuff out of the water.

 

Btw its a v6 auto.

 

Shouldn't be a problem in 4-Low, straight line, no turns. Once on level ground, take it out of 4-Low and manouver it where it needs to go.
How steep is the ramp?

 

I'd assume a boat that big would go in the water in the spring and come out in the fall? If so, just have the marina do it. That's a heavy ass boat to drag up a ramp. It'll probably do it in 4lo but it won't be too happy about it.

I dunno about that... usually, the name we give to people who practice the pull out method is 'parents'.

 

Yeah depending on the tide the ramp can get fairly steep from what I hear. He would probably be launching it and taking it out a few times a month. He usually chalks the wheels and everything to prevent any roll back and catching it. Just worried about smoking out the truck. Like I said just something he is thinking about. Can get a real good deal on it and didn't want to pass on it.

 

The boat itself is a good deal actually. He bought the truck not knowing he would fall into a deal for a bigger boat. He has a boat now that his truck tows just fine and he enjoys. He just wanted to know if it was worth the worry or not.
