I know its not a cure - I just want to get my symptoms under control.

Yes and no. The drops are not FDA approved, are only available in certain areas as part of ongoing research. No FDA approval means no insurance coverage. I have some hope that my insurance will cover some of the expense of the shots.

A special concoction of allergens - each serum is custom taylored to each individuals needs and contains traces of allergens that affect you the most. You recieve gradually higher concentrations of the same serum once a week over the course of a few months until you reach a certain point and then the shots are spaced out to once every 2 weeks and then again to once every 3 weeks.
The goal is to trick your immune system to accept the allergens as commonplace and not go into overdrive when they are present, producing an allergic reaction.

From what i understand it is kind of like a vaccine. They give you small amounts of what ever you are allergic to hoping you body will learn to cope with it better and not react so horribly to it.

    Didn't know that.

Would it help if you just started eating leaves and grass? I can give you the dust out of my vacuum to put in a smoothie.

You can do that. I'm highly allergic to animal dander as well. I had shots when i was younger and it may or may not have helped me in the long run. My allergies aren't nearly as bad now as when i was a kid. I don't know what success rates are though.

Which reminds me, watched a girl snort a condom in through her nose and pull it out through her mouth this weekend.

Success varies from person to person. And its not a cure - its meant to get your symptoms under control. You would have to go through the tests I did today - lots of little pokes in the back and then a 2nd round in your arms. The first round of injections are high concentrations of say grass pollens, weeds, trees, molds...etc. Then they take the ones that you reacted to the most and test you again but this time they break out into individual species of grass, trees....and test the reactions. Each test takes 15 minutes - you just wait and see how big of a welt develops at the injection site.

    Look up 'allergy immunotherapy'

I've had allergy tests before, but that was back when I was like 7-8 years old.. I don't think the immunotherapy existed back then
