thanks.. i kinda messed up, but after a WHOLE can of paint, it came out pretty good!

 

I didn't use high temp or clear coat. I used Krylon Fusion paint for plastics (from Wal-Mart):



Took about 10 coats because I kept it light to prevent drips. Allow more than 1 hour to dry but less than 24 hours. Paint is fully cured at 7 days.

 

if i could do it over, that's how i would have done it, with the center section not painted. Cutting out the toyota sign and letters was a bitch and i messed it up. Still came out good, but i like yours better.

 

Wanna trade covers so you can do it the way you really want it? Mines plain black but i've been waiting for the weather to get better before painting mine.

Well, I'm OCD and I paid far more attention to a stupid engine cover than I should have but I like the end result. I can't even imagine how you cut out tape for the raised symbol and letters. There was only one way for me and that's how I did it.

One other cool trick I found is that a nickle ($.05) fits perfectly in the recessed holes for the bolts. Here is the result. Do you think anyone will notice this when they look inside my engine compartment?



I know it's there and that is all that matters

thats actually a great deal! Mine came out pretty damn good though. But someone should jump at that if they wanna try something really crazy

I dont think so. I just like that its painted. It should hvae been painted from the factory in my mind. It looks nicer..

Here is mine. and yes it is a pain in the arse to do the raised toyota symbols. if i had to do it again, id leave the raised symbols silver

I might do mine in leopard skin or leather crinkle.

Use Leather crinkle paint. For Leopard skin I would probably use laptop or desktop skins.

 

Just finished the wifes Matrix cover, she caught me and said the only reason I was doing hers was so I could do a better job and know what to expect when I do my Tacoma one...She was right. It looks ok but I could have done a better job taping it, but the matrix letters are not like the Taco there a bitch to tape. Thanks for the advice guys.
