HAHa, BENT?? No way man! The shipping guys would have to run over them to do that. Even then, I don't think they would bend. I might be wrong but I believe he does that so that you have max adjustability when welding them on. So that you can match up each side PERFECTLY!

True, but have you ever been in a sorting facility? Lol

I didn't think of adjustability :D others I had gotten in the past they were on already and the BAMF frame plates also go under the frame as well as against the side. So adjustability makes perfect sense.

Yes the frame plates are not welded on because it allows you to place the sliders where you feel they should be. some people like them tucked real tight and others like them a little lower. Also on some 2nd Gen models the frame plates need to be modified to clear rivets in the frame that would be hard if they were welded on.

Is it safe to assume that they'll be welded on the bolt-on sliders once you finish the design so I don't have to find somebody to weld anything prior to putting them on? Sorry, this may be a stupid question...:notsure:

I vote we rename your sliders to honda killers. Every time I see a honda come close to the side of my truck... I think about how they're just gonna slide under my truck if they t bone me. Harmless little cars... lol

Jerry I plan on getting a 1" body lift to clearance 285's in the future and was wondering if you think I should get the body lift before welding the sliders on.

Yes install the BL first or you will have a gap between your sliders and body.

1" isn't much of a difference but say if you like your sliders closer to the body and put them on before the lift it won't hug the body as much. I haven't seen the weld ons though so I don't know how much play room you have with welding the plates on them and then welding the plates to the frame. If there isn't much play room it may not matter.

That's what I thought. I forgot I was planning on getting one eventually so I might have to throw one on before. I'll probably be getting in touch with Roger Brown soon. Thanks.

That is true. I'm going to look around at some of the other 4runners and see if people have put the body lift on after and what it looks like. I know of one guy who did that. I'll probably just get one anyways as it's only $100 or so for one and I won't have to worry about it later. Thanks.

It's going to be abut 1/2" any closer and they might hit on some trucks.
