I Hate Glocks

I agree with the video on some things. I hated the grip and slide on mine, and the overall cheap feel to it. Consequently I didn't own it for very long.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

 

The arguments are always the same. "They're ugly and the grip angle is too harsh." They don't work for everyone but the people that bash them the most are usually 1911 guys and XD guys. I work at a training and shooting center and people are 50/50 when it comes to XD vs Glock. Comparing guns like a 1911 is like comparing an AR-15 to an M14. Different guns but all opinions aside, they do exactly what they are designed to. But, if the grip doesn't fit then it's not for you. If you can't rack the slide because you have overly sweaty hands... wear gloves or put grip tape on the slide.

 

I love Glocks for their simplicity and lack of a 'real' external safety. No confusing things in a true emergency. I remember gun guys trying to destroy these guns when they first came out. Not real successful if I recall.

 

Sorry but I would prefer to just buy a gun that didn't require gloves or "grip tape".... Especially if you're using it for home/self defense. The last thing you want to worry about in a case like that would be gloves or grip tape...

 

I have owned several different Glocks and I used to carry my Glock 27 (.40 Sub Compact) concealed all the time when I was stationed in AZ. Absolutely loved that gun, never failed me once and I dumped a lot of rounds through that thing out in the desert. It was very concealable and even though I have meat hooks for hands and could only wrap two fingers around the grip, plus trigger finger straight along the slide, I had no issues conrolling the recoil in rapid fire drills. But as the title says, to each their own.

 

I agree, to each their own. To bad the fanboys dont get that.

fwiw, i really dont like the xds brother in law has a couple ive shot plenty of times. i like the simplicity of the glocks. he doesnt like glock. ether you love em or you hate em.

 

I like / dislike the guns. Like the action and grip angle. Dislike the square slide, I can not sight over it. And i\I have tried many times. To each his own.

 

i’m not even going to watch video. lol. read the post above. and i have never had a problem racking it!! dad has a G22 3rd gen (the full size .40) and i have shot it alot! grip fills good to me. but also if i hold my hand like i would a gun it kinda is at same angel anyways. i can rapid fire all 15 rounds and all are in like 7” circle. have not shot since like september.

in a self deviance gun the glock safety is very nice(IMHO) because you don’t have to take that 0.001 sec of time to take off the safety.

i can get my CCP next year. i am looking at the G27 and maybe some XD also like the P238 but i don’t like only having 6 rounds. would kinda like to have more.

 

i carry one, compete with one, and one sits beside my bed every night, not one malfunction out of any of the 7 i've owned and one of them was manufactured in 1991

Was just thinking about getting a G26 for CCW. Didn't like the grip. I wish I did - nice guns, but just didn't feel right in my hand. Still looking for sub compact 9 I really like.

 

The guy I hopefully never have to defend myself against, I don't care if he thinks my pistol is ugly.
My bros swat team shoots them exclusively. He says they just don't malfunction. I bought the same they shoot for the emergency that I hope never happens. Imagine if total collapse happens. No more gunsmiths and gun cleaning kits. My glock will still shoot. All ammo. Kimbers will be used as hammers

Same here. I was set on purchasing a Glock, did quite a bit of shooting with my brothers. Can honestly say the grip didn't suit me but was easily adjusted and managed. Shot many rounds and was set on purchasing one. The day before I went to make the purchase a friend stopped by and coincidentally had his XD on hand in the caliber I was interested in. Well the fit was spot on for me. He allowed me to do some shooting and carry it a round for a day. Needless to say I now own an XD. I see nothing wrong with the Glock they both perform.

What gun do you prefer? I don't have issues even with wet hands. Besides in a home invasion you probably won't have your hands covered in lube and have your gun unloaded. "not a snarky remark I am just curious of your preference. My point was that is not a valid argument because all the guns other than M&P have about the same grip characteristics on the slide" The Gen 4 also has the stipple type grip which grips better than any other factory grip I have held.

 

Been shooting, owning and carrying Glocks for 22 years, this is the first time I have ever heard of there being some issue with not being able to rack the slide. If you have trouble racking the slide on a Glock, I would suggest gun use is not for you in the first place. Stick to world of warcraft or knitting.

 

Adapt or use something else. To each their own.
