What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

When I had a custom install done on my windows the installer did remove the door panel's so to position the tint just below the panel, so not to peel in the future.

 

x2, only I removed the panels so the tint guys wouldn't destroy them like they normally do.

 

what % did you go with, 20?

My tint is bubbling on the passenger side so I have to re tint my windows. On my 1987 Toyota pickup I did the same only I removed the glass and tinted the entire window (with the exception of the 1/8" on the top edges). It turned out really good.

 

I went with 50% all around the lightest they had.

It makes the factory tint nice and dark.

 

Yup 20% all windows. The back windows are more like 5% because its on top of the factory 20% ish tint

 

How long have you had that on? Any trouble getting tickets? I guess you probably wouldn't get many in Girdwood, but maybe in Anchorage. I've been contemplating getting tint to all 4 windows for added security if I ever install electronics in the future.

 

Ive had it for about two months now. No trouble with tickets yet and i actually live in the same duplex as one of the state troopers the tinted windows are perfect for hiding my sub.

yea i also had some offroading on that tank too which suprised me!

i think i should get great mpg on the hwy tho haha with 4.10s anyways..might be slow going up hills..but can't be as bad as my last truck lol

South Carolina tint laws state that the tint+window has to allow more than 27% light in which won't allow me to go as dark as I would like to.
I know, most people don't follow the rules and usually get away with it but a couple of summers ago I helped a friend re tint his windows and believe it or not he was pulled for speeding and the officer tested his window tint and he had 30 days to completely remove the tint or put the proper tint film on his vehicle. I can't remember what percentage we put in the first place but it made me think otherwise about going darker on my Tacoma....

 

Ive heard the factory glass is anywhere between 17-25% so i would assume its fairly close. I put 20% on top of the factory so its pretty dark in the rear windows.

 

Is that 20% on the driver and passenger window?

 

i think i'll go with 20% and be fine
by the way, i looked up Nothern Tint, the two front windows and back glass kit is 70 bucks
