PCI good luck finding one cheaper before the run. I bought mine 2 days before the run last time. And when I went to hamradiooutlet they didn't have a radio in stock that would work

RJ, just get a $100 handheld for the trip to hold you off, then sell it on the forums after. But thinking about it, and the truck you have you won't need it anyway :). Last time I went, there were times I waslike like 5 miles behind at times

You should get the icom v8000 like mike and I have. it has all channel's available. I think that icom f5021 radio is limited to certain channels. James would know more about it. the icom v8000 costs $229 plus about $50-$60 for an antenna and you're good to go. buy the headset later.

I doubt anyone will be using a CB during the run and if they're running a race radio you don't have time to use 2 different radios while you're driving and calling out washouts, kickers & dead bodies.

plus that magnetic mount antenna won't last 5 minutes in the desert. it will be hanging off the side of your truck and we can't allow you to look that uncool.

get the HAM radio... that way you can tap into other alternate frequencies that are not normally programmed into a race radio...
