dude for one of those things to get damaged during shipping it would have to be a catastrophic accident. mine is solid as fuck it would take a sledge hammer and the better part of a day for me to mangle that thing. i have seen pictures on the net of them after killing moose and they look more or less straight not a deer but, a moose!

if there is one thing i'm positive on its that arb knows how to build a very stout bumper. can you bend it yes but, the experience of doing so you would expect your entire truck to fall apart as well lol.

By the same logic, the factory skids are sufficient. Just impact them very gently. I understand where you're going, and you are absolutely right that everyone has to draw their personal "line in the sand" on what is "good enough". All-Pro's products haven't made it across mine. Simple enough.

Another way to phrase that would be:

When I land my skid on a rock good and fucking hard, I don't want to be wondering 'was that reasonable for the thickness of metal used?'

That thought process doesn't really help with the flexing sliders and bending bumpers, however.

I've seen a lot of HDPE/Alum hybrid stuff running around recently. It definitely seems to be the combination champion of weight and performance. It's also very high dollar.

Adding a few pounds and shedding a ton of cost is a perfectly fine approach.

And please - let's not pretend Jeeps, or any other major marque, are doing the most extreme trails. That title sits where it has for eons: With tube-chassis buggies.

Light weight is nice at times, but hardly high on the priority list ;) These are load bearing vehicles, after all.

Of course not! The Tacoma's are actually working correctly and out doing things!

    :p

Honestly, it depends. I've done plenty of obstacles that Wranglers at comparable levels of modification had a MUCH harder time with on account of the tip/roll factor. Introduce a little bit of camber and Jeeps suddenly lose a LOT of ability.

Jeeps are more capable out of the box, the Rubicon trim especially so, but really all bets go out the window once you drift away from factory.

Now, will someone draw me a flow chart of how we made it from "why All-Pro leaves a bad taste in some people's mouths" to "Jeeps"?

    Im 145lbs soaking wet so...:D

Just sayin, Sarah came in here and explained that they are not a hardcore armor manufacturer, their stuff is good enough for probably 90% of tacoma owners and is a good compromise between weight and strength.

I'll start off by saying I have Allpro adjustable coilovers and 3inch expo leafs(the absolute bomb). I really like their suspension. it holds up to a lot of weight that I have in my truck.

To you people bashing all pro armor. How much research did you do into the thickness of steel used, mounting locations, amount of gussets used, peoples reviews of how it held up, ect. before buying it(or did your friends do before buying)? For a lot of people all pro IS tough enough. for others it isn't. I really like how all pros bumpers look, but I have never bought and probably never will buy any of their armor because it isn't tough enough for my uses. Even though I know they don't make the strongest armor I don't bash on it. I wouldn't recommend it for someone who crawls on big rocks everytime but I would tell someone with a desert runner or is a mild wheeler to look into them.

IMO everything in wheeling is built for a purpose. But the buyer needs to determine if it is built for their purpose. If a bumper bends maybe it isn't the producers fault that they didn't build it stronger but the buyers fault that he/she did not buy something that is already built stonger.

please correct me if I am wrong, but I usually blame myself for making the mistake of buying something that isn't good enough for my standards

Im absolutely impressed with my sliders I've had the full weight of the truck on them and had no flexing whatsoever. took a couple of months to get but the service was great and is a quality product. 100% satisfied customer.

Another thing I could do without is snotty comments by their employees when competitors get injured in horrid desert crashes...

    Stay classy AP.
