Last weekend I ways helping my neighbor fix his cadillac (a squirrel feasted on his plug wires ) and he told me I could have anything off of any of his old junked cars for free!

    So... free hood struts!!!

I could only get two brackets off the cars, the other were part of the fender. so I fabbed some out of some galvanized metal i found behind our shop.

Heres the ones I got from the car

I just drilled holes and used self tapping screws to mount them. Pretty much the same method as the write-up on the mod thread.

Installed! Good by flimsy hood stick!

These struts are almost too strong for my light hood. If you aren't holding on to it it flies up and kinda flexes the brackets and the fender where the screws are. sometime i'll have to find some springs to mount and slow them down a bit so the brackets dont get ripped off.

And I didn't care much for my mudflaps so I took them off. the new rims make the tires stick out enough that They don't cover them very well and look a little funny. The worst that could happen is I don't like it and end up putting them back on :notsure:.

Yea, but if its not obvious enough that a pickup is a 4x4 you can buy badges for like 2$ apiece at any part store of walmart. I would keep them but they don't cover up the tires all the way anymore which kind of defeats the purpose.

well I finally did the diff. breather extension mod. I used a section on old powerwasher hose, which actually worked pretty good! I forgot to take pics, but i will eventually. I also redid my subs because I hated all the rattles I got from having them in the storage compartments. Sounds way better now. Not necessarily louder, but definitely a smoother sound and the hit a little harder now that they're in an airtight box.

Heres a couple after a fresh wash

My sub box i built. I definitely need to get some carpet to cover it with and clean up the look. It sounds alot better and I can still use my back seats, so I'm pretty happy with it...for now.

P.S. I'm also debating on whether or not I wanna plasti-dip my badges and rear bumper or not. I have no experience with that stuff, how it holds up, or how to do it, so any opinions would help please. Plus idk how I would like having ALL of my chrome gone. I like a little just to catch people's eye lol. Maybe all black would be better though.

How does that sub set up sound?

I'm interested in only one 8" in the passenger side jack cubby. I don't want bass that'll shake a turd out of you, just something to complete the low end nicely.

edit: I see your last post above... I take it that it didn't sound good? lol

If u do it good, it wont be so bad if you can stand a little bit of vibrating, but I'd recommend the box. I have 2 of them in there so if you only want one it would be pretty low profile. Just the more you put into it, the better it turns out. I could have ripped everything apart and got it better, but the box sounds better because its more airtight.

Also a box would be better for one because I'd they it would sound better if it was centered in the cab so all the sound isn't coming from the passenger side.,

    Thanks for the info.

I utilize the back seats way too much to put a box there.

Got some updates. Once again, I upgraded my sound system. Picked up 15" eclipse sub and a 1400 watt visonik amp from an old guy that i work for once in awhile. he said "just take it and pay me back when you can". That works for me! just had to shore up the box a little with some screws since it was rattling. it's alot cleaner looking than my homemade box for my 8's, the new amp just is alot bigger so it doesn't really fit under the seat anymore. This thing HITS! i don't even have it boosted or anything and i love it. I think i'm gonna stay with this awhile. Plus i got it back there so i can still use both my jump seats with reasonable comfort!

I wouldn't have went out and bought this without an amazing deal, but i'm certainly glad it came my way!

And I washed and waxed it and rain-xed my windshield. EVERYONE should rain-x. after a few times of doing it, you don't even use your wipers in rain, it just beads off. Of course it only stayed clean for like a day of driving our dusty ass roads.:goingcrazy:

BUT it looked good in the driveway that night:D

Did the antennae chop to put it in proportion with the truck. I cut it down to 20" according to the thread write-up.
