yep, Ive had the truck for a week, and I found a baseball size hole in the frame right near the gas tank... I called my local dealer and the service guy said that due to that hole, the he is 100% sure my truck will be bought back. Im kinda sad... I was liking the truck. Im going to now take off the new parts I just put on... they will be for sale here if anyone is interested. o2 sensors, cap, rotor, and a bedliner.

because the hole is between the gas tank and frame on the inner part of the frame... I couldnt get my head up there to see it until I had the car up on a lift while doing the oil change. I saw it and thought nothing of it really...until I read all the info about this... the frame is starting to do the same thing in 2 other places.. but due to just that one hole, I was told by the dealer to say bye bye to the truck and to take off of it anyting I wanted to keep.

How much 'taking off of stuff' do you think you could get away with? Engine? :D Probably not I guess. I wonder what Toyota do with all the 'used but still good' stuff.

Too bad you won't be getting that 1.5 times the KBB value. I think that to be eligible for that you need to have purchased the truck a quite a few months back.

if that's true then they wont be getting my truck. I heard that ALL 95.5-2000 model year trucks get the 1.5xKBB offers... reguardless of length of ownership.

exactly...they do it by making sure that you bought the truck before the recall was announced.

I bet it will be bought back, but probably for what you spent on the truck.

I wouldn't be foolish about it. Not selling it back to them guarantees you are the loser in the deal.

The only thing i would think might be in your favor (to get more than you payed for it) is that you bought the truck from a dealer who should have known and inspected the truck for this very thing prior to re-selling it.

You would think their ass is on the line to some extent, due to this being a known and potentially dangerous defect, improving your position. To what extent, i don't know...

I bought it from an idividual for $4200. He claimed to have already had the frame inspection done and that the truck passed... It clearly couldnt have passed...its got a baseball size hole in the frame. thats an automatic "fail" according to my local dealer.

Ahhh, i misunderstood and thought you bought it from the dealer.

I would see how long the last person owned it, 'void' the sale (to you) due to the since discovered damage with the agreement with the former owner that you split the additional proceeds.

If doable, everyone wins. (Except for Toyota...)
