Bed Carpet Kit!

I once had something similar in a truck. It was moldy in real short order. I highly recommend you silicone the bed drain holes closed to prevent water from getting under your new carpet. Also check and see if you have any leaks around the tailgate.

Looks good! Just don't want to see it get soggy, and it does not take a lot of water to mess things up.

 

There were some hard spots, but overall it was fairly easy. You could knock it out in one day. It also only costs about $20, for the wood & hinges. Carpet you can find in your local carpeteria's dumpster

 

I see your from the coast, things get super soggy there for sure! Im in Reno, NV so things are very dry mostly. My dad has had the same basic carpet kit in his tundra for years and its golden.

 

Sure beats spending hundreds on the carpet kits. I like it. I've always had carpet in my bed but never used a backer so it curled up and crap. Will consider this when I get some shag carpet.

 

I manage a flooring store and have carpet rems all the time. I cut a piece and just threw it down ontop of the bed liner, lays nice and flat and helps with managing cargo. I find it really helpfull when I'm goin to the beach alot b/c it makes the sand easy to clean out. When it gets gunked up from fish slime, I'l replace it.

The one that I had in my '94 was a full kit, basically 3-pieces.
The sides fit over the wheelwells and had storage doors on top, plus 4 cup holders at the rear.
The sides also had 2x2 strips near the top.
The center floor could be pulled out and rested on these 2x2s so the bed could be used for camping, with gear still secured under the "floor".

I put a Bedrug in my 2nd Gen.

Nahh... haven't had that truck since I traded it on my Tundra at the end of '02, and I never did get any interior pictures of it.
