I'm concerned about the extent of rust!

Hello Tacoma fans. I have been looking around for a Tacoma with low miles for some time now and one popped up with 29000 miles. It's a 2002 4cyl 4x4 and looks clean drives awesome. The truck spent ten years in New York and was driven a total of 9k miles. It's been in Az for a year. When I looked at the front control arms I noticed some rust. I'm not used to seening this, being raised in AZ but it looked serious. He is asking 14k would anyone discourage me from making this investment.
I haven't figured out how to load pics from my iPhone but I can email them to anyone who responds.

 

Check it out carefully (underneath, etc) and, if there's no serious rust and you like the truck, purchase it and spend a little time cleaning up the rust (removal, sealing, etc). Should only take a few hours, at most. If you don't like the truck or don't want to spend the time, don't purchase it. You have to make the final decision.

I hear ye but what would determine serious rust problems.

 

It's a judgement call. How much rust? Where? Can it be ignored or cleaned up successfully? How hard would that cleanup be? Is it even worth the effort? Without pictures, we can't really judge any of that.

The truck is priced high, so the rust should be minimal and the rest of the truck near perfect. You said the truck "looks clean drives awesome," so the determining factor is the rust (as you seem to realize). We're now back to the previous paragraph above.
