Ok, every morning I back my truck out of the garage because it's easier to get my old Lab into the truck if it's not in the garage. I start the truck just long enough to back up about 20 feet, and then turn it off. A few seconds after I shut it off there is a fairly loud "WHOOOSH" noise. The best approximation I can give is maybe what an afterburner sounds like shutting down??? WTF is this noise? Anyone else heard it???

Look in the back for R2D2. If he's not back there, he's probably just been jettisoned to a nearby moon in an escape pod.

    :stayontopic:

Ok, so are you familiar w/the sound of the ABS when you first start to pull away in D? We could call it the "bro" sound, as it's kind of a low volume BRRRROOO. (But bro is a reserved word in this context.) Which I don't think you'll hear if you only backup; I think it's heard when in Drive.

Aside from the wooshing sound, it is really hard on your engine/oil to run the truck for such short periods of time, you should avoid that.

Maybe, and yes, I am very aware that this is not good for the truck. My lab is 13+ right now, so I will sacrifice the truck a little to make the end of his life easier...

Once in a while isn't going to hurt much, but doing it every day will froth up the oil and you will start getting buildup on the heads and such... I'm no expert, just vaguely remember the basics of this.

So, maybe I need to build a small ramp in the garage to pull up and park on. Then, in the morning, I can just open the garage door and let the truck roll out. Huh, think that will work better???
I have to have the truck out of the garage both to load the old dog to go to work, and I have a motion detector in the garage wired to the security system, so the truck needs to be out when I lock up the house to leave. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1335541050.732137.jpg

And how could you possibly not make life as easy as possible for this sweet old boy. The truck will survive. I only have a limited time left with my best friend...

It's the air injection pump...Although the R2D2 thing was kinda funny.

Wait, you said after you turn it off...R2D2 might be correct.

I got a folding ramp from Costco for like 79 bucks. Well worth it for the ol boy. It's tall enough for door entry in the folded position and really nice to be able to take places vs a stationary ramp.

Thanks. I have the ramp. That's why the truck needs to be out of the garage. Need the space to the side of the vehicle.
