So based upon what I have understood, is it bad form to lift a Pre-Runner and leave the badges on? Provided of course that no sticker is added that implies 4x4 capability. I like the look of lifted trucks regardless. Nothing crazy, but a 2" body lift or so.

So, if you remove the TRD stickers from your TRD, are you "posing" as an SR5???????

I'm in the do what you want it's yours camp.

As far as I can tell, most of the mods people do, removes the heart of the "TRD" package. Once you lift the truck, and change the suspension the TRD is gone. So technically, anyone with a lift and TRD stickers is posing...right? It truly doesn't matter, its a damn sticker. I say if you upgrade the shocks and springs to anything better than stock "TRD" shocks, then what's the difference?

The heart of the TRD package is the locking diff, which is a very important "accessory". I think that is why people think it's posing to put on the TRD stickers, because it would imply that you have the locking diff, which if you went off roading or went to a meet, people would very quickly tell that you didnt, and ask what the trd sticker was for. Then at that point you get to say "oh I dont have a TRD, i just like the sticker"

So all needs is areas diff lock...and bam...better than TRD. Which, most trucks that are used off road are modded. So as long as he doesn't misrepresent to a buyer, what's the harm?

i didnt understand half of what you said....mainly the bolded part. But i'm not saying there is a harm, i'm just saying anyone who knows anything about tacos knows that TRD on a first gen means diff lock, and when you dont actually have that its just sort of...i dont know, pointless. but again, if you like the look of the trd sticker go for it.

Once you change the suspension, and switch out the diff lock to an upgraded aftermarket locker, shouldn't you take the sticker off? Since technically it's not TRD anymore?

I wouldn't do it and think it's lame, like the riceboys who slap "Type-R" logos on everything when the only real "Type-R" were hand-built Integras.

But the only people who are going to know are Toyota enthusiasts.

Next time you see a "NISMO" Titan or Frontier... do you know if it's real or not? Can you tell a base model from a non-base without looking for the power window switched?

Neither can anyone else when they see your Toyota.

    Yes, my thoughts exactly
Ok, now you are just nit picking and getting technical to find something to argue about, and its rediculous.
I'm pretty sure I said the same thing a while back in the first few pages, but people who don't know tacos won't care that is has a trd sticker, and people who do know tacos will know its not a trd the second they see there is not a diff lock button

    Depending on the year.
I'm not familiar with the various TRD options on the Taco, but my '03 Tundra had the TRD Off Road package.
The total difference? LSD and yellow Bilsteins.
I peeled the stickers first weekend.
    2nd weekend I debadged.
After a couple of months after I put on the TRD exhaust, I rebadged it with the raised TRD badges...

Yeti Rescue FTW. (Yes, my truck is a real TRD) I decided this was the best way to almost look like every other TRD Tacoma...but not quite. Thanks Sock.

If it's a regular cab, it's obvious. Regular cabs don't come in a TRD package. Although, i did it on my last regular cab (camo trd stickers) they looked good. :D

Around $26,000 worth of unleaded in the fuel tank.
I have seen tacos for sale as having the trd package, but they have no flares. It's almost a dead giveaway. The locker switch on the dash is more convincing since the flares may have been removed.
The decals can add something of interest to a vast, empty bedside.

Where are you getting the decals? There are many different ones on EBay. Which ones are you going to go with?

Not to :deadhorse: but it's your rig, do whatever you want, paint it digital desert camo with pink TRD decals if that's what you wanna do! Everyone else can drink a can of shut the f**k up, then walk off a cliff. Imo, the point of modding is to personalize your vehicle. If everyone had the same tastes, we'd all be driving something with no style, like a Prius

OP, your rig, your rules. Who gives a shit what anyone else thinks... poser. :)

JK... do what you want to your truck. If we all had the exact same Tacomas, it would be a pretty boring forum.

Note to all: if you are going to add the sticker..... Please be sure to place it in the correct factory location. Any other way looks cheesy!
