so....anyone with the cobra ultra 19 111 that mounted the setup in the ash tray location on a first gen tacoma(mainly......an 04 or the like), what did you have to do to make it fit correctly? what all besides the slide in ash tray was removed?? appreciate the info. going to get mine installed and wired.........just looking for pointers from those who have done it already.

i did not install the cobra, i put a uniden in there. if you are planning on putting it there then they are probably around the same size. all i did was take the ashtray out and then the mount for it out. there were 2 screws that held the mount in, i dont remember any cutting. the mount for the cb had 2 screw holes that lined up perfectly. i will get some pictures on here soon. hope this helped out some

I used a Uniden and had to do a little trimming with a dremel to make it sit in far enough.

Outstanding install tacomaman06 ! been trying to figure out how to install a cobra 29 and linear in my truck. the linear i can handle. i think it'll go behind the rear seats. can wire it no sweat. just the size of the cb has got me as there's really no place that'll fit. i like the cb and i hate to abandon it for a smaller one as i've got it tweaked & peaked. may have to , though. looks like the size y'all have is the ticket for an upfront install

let me know if you need a hand...even though its not difficult...ive done mine and would be glad to let you look at things up close if you need to

for anyone doing this...when you remove the slider mount thing...you'll want to disco the little light from the ashtry...i chose to just cut mine off...however...i let my wires touch...DONT DO THIS

theyre hot all the time and will short your truck out...i promise...

    cut and tape

i installed my antenna on my toolbox......ran the wires over the back of the bed down and thru a grommet on the very back of the cab. its a pain in the ass running the cable under the seat, but once you get it thru, its easy breezy after that.
