I've used through the glass antennas: crap, A Firestik: also crap, A Lil Wilson: great antenna for cheap and a Wilson 1000 also a great antenna. Wilson Flex is a good antenna if you off road alot. For me I'm looking for performance and the Wilson 1000 does a great job.

I have a k40 4' whip and k40 trunk mount base load. I'm trying to figure out which one to use and where to mount it. The box on the truck makes it difficult.

Is the trunk mount a magnet mount antenna? If so, slap that sucker on the roof.

My vote is also for Wilson 1000. Works great steel whip is ALMOST unbreakable. Used them for 10+ years. Get 'em set, and yer good to talk. Got one on my 06 Tacoma work truck now.

So with a mag mount on the roof how do you route your cable?

Either through a window or I've seen people route the cable through the 3rd brake light

I have a 4' Wilson Flex on a RelentlessFab hood hinge bracket and removable mount (garage parking). Initially went with a 3' Flex, but couldn't tune it well enough to my liking so moved up to get more above the roofline.

DR front coils and rear shocks, deaver springs, load leveling airbags, k&n intake, JBA hedders and exhaust,Unichip power chip, URD short shifter, onboard air compressor, upgraded power inverter (1000W put in stock inverters location) budbuilt traction bar, warn transformer winch mount and warn winch, HID headlights and foglights, full LED bulb conversion, LED bed lights, full stereo system with GPS and they all roll on 16x8 black steel rock crusher and 285/75R16 BFG KM2's.
i have two different mounting locations for my 102" whip. one is on the back side of my tool box for talking skip to the states (i live in Hawaii) and the other is on my rear bumper. the rear bumper is for eveyday use cause it is easier to tie down when i have to go into parking garages. i have a quick disconnect so i just switch the whip back and forth (also have to switch the antenna wire on the radio back and forth).
