I've heard some good things about the Ruger SR1911, I'm a bit of a Ruger fanboy, and my budget isn't that big. I decided to hold off getting my first 1911 until I could check one out. Never did find one locally, but found a decent deal online and have one on its way to my FFL now.

I'm a big fan of Ruger for revolvers.
Ruger has always done revolvers, and always done them well and affordably.
    Not PERFECT... but perfectly adequate.
The trigger feel and break on a comparable Smith is MUCH nicer... but $200 nicer? I own an SP101 .357 ;)

But I'm not a big fan of Ruger semi-autos. The running joke is not to buy a first year... wait until after the recalls. Now, I haven't heard of any recalls on the LC9, but there are enough other complaints about the LC9 to keep me away, both ergonomically and economically (price the magazines!).

Ruger has always made nice .22lr competition pistols, and of course the 10/22 is the benchmark for reliable, entry level rifles... but semi-automatic handguns in the larger calibers just hasn't been their forte'.

Their competition pistols are awesome, I have a slab side barrel model with thumb rest and I love it. The sights keep coming lose though, I need to get some loc-tite on them

I fondled the ruger 1911 today

nice fit/finish and the tag on it was $675 at Palmetto State Armory...it was already sold to an employee...apparently they ordered 5 and got 1...and it was sold before it hit the sales floor

Why the red on the bottom of the mag? is it just for color or is there a purpose for it being there?

Foglights are for fog, not oncoming traffic!
I color-code my mags so I don't confuse 9mm with 45acp AND so no one else 'mistakenly' moves off with my mags.

I've never been real impressed with Springfield triggers out of the box. Ruger and Remington are brands I have not tried, so I can't comment- but I'm very impressed with my Sig Carry (4.2" barrel). I've been using it in IDPA matches, with qualified success. I've done a little dressing on it as well- an S&A Magwell, extended slide release, and will be installing G10 grips and a FO front sight this weekend.

I've had my SR1911 for a while now. Its my first 1911 and I'm very happy with it. It is now my favorite handgun.

Finally took a pic of the Sig. Generally I won't advertise the fact that I have anything, but what the hell. I received the Fusion fiber optic front sight last night, but will need a 'smiths help to get it on. I'm heading for a dual purpose gun (IDPA/CCW), even though the two are generally thought to be polar opposites.

    Too many to list now.
I've got the stainless model R1 and I have to agree with you. That thing just feels right in your hands. No issues with it at all to date. I would HIGHLY recommend it. I'd buy another stainless in a heartbeat. So perty. took off the walnut stock grips on mine and installed some rubbers with finger grips.

Your lost. Yes, the dumb ass from Sig did tamper with quality he's long been gone, and so has Kimbers' issues. They are producing some of the best production, 100% made in the USA (Yonkers NY) 1911s out there. Yes, there are other great choices out there with Dan Wesson, Springfield (more and more being produced in Brazil) to name a few. Value wise, Remington and RIA can not be overlooked.
