Did have dealer do for first 25000. Was miserable weather and went to valvoline change that I had gone to with past vehicle; figured cost was more but they would do it right, grease the needed items etc.

I asked about the grease fittings. the invoice said 'greased 2 zerk' I asked the guy and he said "i was down there and didn't grease any, i don't think your truck has any"

I was unable to stay any longer and asked if I could come back the next day for that.

The next day I went to valvoline with printout of where the zerks are, gave it to the guy. He came back and said "we checked, your vehicle does not have any place to grease.

I went home and sure enough, I have grease fittings, fore and aft on my 4x4. I bitched about this on their online survey. A local manager called up and said "I was at that shop that day and I am the one who checked".

I asked for a refund. The local manager said "i would love to see where those fittings are".

I said send me the refund check then I will call you.

I think they are either incompetent, liars, or blinded by what their computer tells them what to look for.

Pretty easy to grease my self. Will be doing the oil changes from now on; getting some differential oil for those too.

I can go slow enough to make sure I do it right.

FOR ANYBODY LIVING IN SAN DIEGO: Avoid Mossy Toyota in Pacific Beach!

I went there for the 10,000 mile service under Toyota Care. Included oil change, fluid check, and tire rotation.

Long story short: Dealer technician scratched the shit out of one of my wheels and would not own up to their mistake. I spoke to the director of operations and he told me he would charge me employee cost to repair the wheel.

I have free Toyota Care for 5 years with my new 2012 Tacoma. Which is servicing every 5,000 miles or 6 months which ever comes first. After that a Lifetime Warranty with Stealership if I keep servicing my vehicle with them using Toyota's Maintenance Guidelines. Let me say that again, Lifetime Warranty. We'll see once the first problem happens, if one ever does.

    True.

Not to offend anyone, but they usually put the "green" guy on oil change duty.

Nobody takes care of your vehicle better than yourself.

I just spent whole day fixing f...ups Toyota mechanics did with my wifes car.
here is short list of things
    1. They cut rotors but cut had been done wrong so rotors were uneven. So much backlash that wheel would shake.
    2. They must have hammered brake pads into place cracking them.
    3. Bolt holding driver side front caliper was hand tighten only. So only one bolt was holding it.
    3. locking Clip holding brake line was not there so during turns small metal line connecting caliper to brake line was getting bend out of shape, now it will have to be replaced along with new brake line and new locking clip.
    4. Rear wheel had one bolt at probably 100 lb-ft other 4 were like 20 lb-ft (neither is correct)

luckly all the work supposed to be performed under warranty so we did not have to pay for it but that free warranty now cost me new rotors, new pads and I still need to get new brake lines. It could have been disaster if caliper let go or wheel had let go.

In short F...k retarded mechanics. No other way but to do own work. Even if could be done under the free warranty.

Wow. Such hate. If you have a bad experience with a server at a restaurant, are all servers at all restaurants fucking retarded too?

Probably going to file complain with Toyota on this one.

hate because all those are stupid mistakes that should have not happened.
If majority of servers are retarded then I am allowed to generalize. There are few guys I know that work in the service that are very good. However, this guys are few and majority of the service depts is just crap at this point. I can compile longer list of different problems but bottom line is Service is as bad as can be. They must have figure out they can make more money by doing shady work.
And since oil changes are done by new people, it can only be worst... Its simple if you go to dealership you kid yourself you getting some better service.
