I take my antenna off each time. smacks the roof of the covered parking, smacks the roof of people's garages, scrapes all over parking garages.... easy just to take off and stow under the rear seats.

I got the quick disconnect and I'm going to use it.

Exactly. I park in a parking garage as well, it would get smacked around like no other.

    Thanks.

I have my antenna(4' firestik spring mounted) pulled down military style at about a 45* angle until I hit the trails then I just do a loop and up it goes.

    yeah I know it's not Nordstrom's, but I tried :p

Being more serious, if you were buying new and you wanted a compact model, it looks like the midland 1001LWX might be the one to get - does everything mine does but also has weather.

I'll let you know the biggest drawback on the cobra 19DX II is that it doesn't have channel memory - I always have to tune it back when I start the truck back up. I don't know if the Uniden 520 or the Midland 1001LWX do that, but really it's quite a big annoyance.

I went with the Uniden 520 simply because I know for a fact that it'll fit where I want it. :)

    Hopefully it's got channel memory!

It should be a good unit, digiratus likes his a lot. It's just slightly bigger than mine and wouldn't fit in the head unit cubby, so wasn't an option for me.

Yup, goes back to channel 1. I've caught myself a few times talking to no one :p
If I had mine in Rob's location I'd have to dig in there every time, which would annoy the hell out of me.
