Quick question on the components in a leaf assembly.

in the image where the red arrow is, is its function to keep the leafs from slipping sideways under side loading/articulation? I ask as mine are rubbing my King shock body, the bolt and nut that is.

yep, those are spring clamps & help prevent sliding & lateral twisting of spring, cut it off...serious, if its rubbing the shock body get rid of it

Yep, its official... I actually remembered to do a measurement BEFORE

a leaf build (rebuilding my own this time)

Tonight just a measurement, tomorrow I'll do a condensed step by step w/pics & vids (maybe I'll catch myself on fire again but this time caught on cam)...:D

Ok, this first measurement is from the middle, on top of rear brake drum up to bottom edge/middle of rear wheel well... looks like a before shot of 17"

Subbed. Wondering if one of your rebuilds would be good for an SUA setup.

I'll read the whole thread tonight.

seems since the arch is soooo different a SUA off rebuilt springs would be extremely difficult.

Since all the added leafs will be pretty flat in comparison to the arch you are trying to achieve.

I am def looking forward to seeing how this gets addressed.:bananadead::rant::boom::boom:

Wow, what a coincidence... a wheeling buddy just told me his springs were trashed, needs replacement... looking for options... and I randomly land on this thread!
When you say junk yard prices - maybe I'll do this to my rig too!

Can you guys help me out? I either need info on who I can contact to make it happen, or a 'shopping list' and some instructions. I have friends with shops and welding know-how.

Truck 1 (my buddy) is 2nd gen, stock springs, in NW Oregon
Truck 2 (me) is 2nd gen, stock springs with TSB and , in western Washington (but I can do weekend Oregon trips). Not sure if doing this is necessity? thought I would make sure and do things all at once. Measuring to bottom of flare, with 285/75/16 and an OME lift, I'm at 39.25" front, 38.5" rear. I'm adding skids in the next few weeks which might even those numbers up, but what condition am I in?

Mines def not like the others. We added one medium length spring from a Chevy 1 ton s-10 pack and left the overload out. Added around 1.5-2 inches in height and is nice and plush.

We originally had 2 leafs added and I was 3-4 inches over stock and just a little too stiff for me.

These are running great and it let me lower the front preload for an all around softer ride.

If I ever get a new leaf pack these are donated back to the stock of OMD
