anyone notice that there bed is mounted crooked?

i was washing my truck today and noticed my bed is mounted crooked. the body lines that run down the cab to the bed dont match up. the bed body line actually sits higher than the cab body line. it is hard to tell in picture but the bed sits about a half inch or more higher than the cab body line. also if you stand behind the truck the bed looks like it is shifted more towards the driver side than the passenger side. does anybody else notice this on their truck? is that normal?

First of all, you bed is not that bad. Adjusting it may cause more problems than good.

That being said, I would just torque down the bed bolts, make sure they are all tight.

 

Perhaps you should see a doctor. I think one of your legs is shorter than the other. J/K

 

My 2009 AC cab bed is exactly the same on the passenger side - a bit off. I have been tempted to fix it myself by loosening the torx bolts. But I don't have such a large socket. I live with it. I did a quick inspection of other Tacomas at the dealer. Some are off on the drivers side and some the passenger side. NONE were balanced left-right. All were off to some degree.

 

i noticed exactly the same problem my bed was off to the left about 3/8" of an inch, i loosened the T55 torx bolts and moved it all the way to the passenger side to get it straight. i was suprosed it took all the adjustment there was in the bed to get it aligned. my concern was the depris from the front wheels might sandblast the paint on the front of the bed. i asked the dealer about it and they referred me to a body shop so i just took care of it myself. the bolts werent that tight that i couldnt get them off with a standard 3/8" ratchet drive.

 

I've seen it in a previous truck I owned.. Don't worry about it. It's normal from time to time for the bed to be slightly off. Fix it if you want to, but as someone said, You may be opening a can of worms.

MY brothers bed is soo bad, on one side of the truck you can fit your fingers thru the space between the cab and bed, on the other side you can barely get your fingernails to pass

I'd have to say it's normal for it to be slightly off..
In fact my old f150 was like that when I got it brand new.
Oops, did I just admit that I owned a ford? lol

 

You guys know that they build these things within set "tolerances" which I have heard can be up to 3/4 to 1"! Hey just stop into a dealer and put your discriminating eye on any car in the showroom...you will be amazed at the imperfections!

I have had two Tacoma's since 2005 and I have had to loosen the bed bolts and readjust both of them.

Its really not a big deal just loosen the bolts and the bed will slide around very easy, get it where you want it and then tighten the bolts back down. Be sure to measure as you tighten and also tighten each bolt a little at a time. Very simple adjustment.

 

I can't tell the difference at all. If you want to feel better, check out any new chevy on a lot. I looked at one a year ago and I swear the gas door was totally crooked and so was the tailgate.
