Got pulled over and got a ticket for no mudflaps yesterday even though i have front AND rear fiberglass and the front only protrudes a couple more inches over the wide ass fiberglass....
Now i have to put some gay ass mudflaps on the front of my rig to cover the lowly 2"s that my tires stick out..

    Folsom pd sucks balls.

I've been pulled over in Folsom at least six times for my tires being out to far.

time to hit the junkyard and scrounge for some cool looking flaps (oxymoron) that work for the front.

I got a mudflap fix it ticket before (but by CHP). FWIW, mudflaps are not a "requirement" per se

I just took it in to local PD and asked them to sign it off. I told them I got pulled over because I had no fenders or bedsides on at all. They went out and looked at my truck from across the parking lot and I obviously had glass on so they signed it off.

Worth a try...and worse case they tell you no...put on mudflaps.

Ya my only problem is I use a jeep for off roading, Tacoma for a DD. Tucking wider tires under a Toyota is much easier then a jeep...case in point.

    Then what's this?

Now, it doesn't say how you need to resolve the spray the issue just that you must minimize the spray. So the "requirement" is to minimize spray or splash of water or mud to the rear of the vehicle. Whether it's a mudflap or a fender, doesn't matter. So when the cop writes you a "mudflap" ticket, then he's saying you don't meet the minimum requirement-which isn't defined.

I've ripped my share of mud flaps off the truck so I see the value taking them off. I've also ridden behind or beside tractor trailer rigs in the rain and that, ladies, is no fun.

    its says
"to effectively minimize the spray or splash of water or mud to the rear of the vehicle and all such equipment or such body or attachments thereto shall be at least as wide as the tire tread"

So if you have any tread sticking out you don't meet "minimum requirements"...

Where do u think I copied my quote from. :)
My point was what I highlighted...the "or" clause. You're dead on about it just needing to minimize spray, but that's open to interpretation of the citing officer.

What a GREAT idea!! I want to put my front ones back on but my tires will rub them. I think this would actually work because it will be thinner and not have that protruding part!!

Thanks for this, I think I'll do this on my next day off. It'll look hella ghetto, but it will do the job! :p
