Can I really sell my truck for THIS?

I am looking into selling my truck due to the fact that I am tired of being broke all the time. I looked my truck up on KBB and don't know if the number they say is a realistic number. I would say my truck is in good to very good condition, and they say that it is worth right around $23K. I know I only have 76,000 miles on it, but dang, is it really worth this much? What do you all think I should start it off at? Thanks!!

I have seen an article recently where Tacomas were listed as the 3rd best vehicle in the nation for holding it's residual value. The number seems high for a 5 or 6 year old vehicle, but the market dictates the price, and that is what the kbb and nada values are based on, so it is probably accurate.

 

NADA says $23,800 retail. It didn't have private party. When I go to sell it I want to sell it quick, so if I start it at $22k I should be good?

 

mine is an 05 4x4, i paid $14k for it at a dealer.

The KBB screen shot that you posted states private sale at 23,500, so I would advertise it for that with "Or Best Offer", that way potential buyers know they have the opportunity to bargain. Show them the KBB sheet, and let them bargain you down to $22k. That way they feel they get a good deal and you still get what you wanted. If you start by asking $22, you will be bargained down and might have to sell for $20 or so. Private buyers always try to bargain, so make them feel good about their purchase.

Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass! I only owe 16 and I'm going to use the profit on it to hopefully but an older single cab Toyota (CASH), that way I don't have the payment anymore!

 

My 05 dc sport 4wd with 78,000 comes in at $21,625 in very good condition. Not excellent. Not yet taken into account my king coilovers and bumper to bumper warranty until 93,000 miles.

probably would sell it for 22K with brand new 5100's.

 

This is one of the top reasons I purchased one of these trucks because they have fantastic resale value. Not sure I'll ever sale though. I love this truck. Purchased my '07 for about $29,000 after taxes and KBB puts it at $26-27k that's outstanding. I can't believe these are number 3 on resale. Sounds like you can't get any better.

 

I traded my 2007 off road DC for 22500 with 51 k. I paid 29500 for my sport brand new in 2011.

 

I traded in an 03 v-6 access cab when I bought my truck and got almost 10k for it with 195,000 miles on it at seven years old in good shape. Not bad!

 

I bought my 05 xr 1 year ago for 12.5k with 40k miles

 

What were the top 2? Just out of curiosity.

 

There is a 08 dclb 4x4 sr5 50k miles at a dealer they were asking 28k but now down to 25k. I went and looked at it okay condition and they were in it 27k so they were taking a loss. I just went ahead and bought new for 30k. The resale value is great and main reason I didn't get a tundra. 5 year old tundras compared to 5 year old tacomas are worth at least 7k more than tundras and they initially cost less.

 

I sold my '99 extended cab with 257,000 miles to a Toyota dealer in Alabama last year. I had no idea what it was worth...I was planning on putting it on the side of the road for $500 before he offered that to me.

 

Going to clean mine up this weekend and put the for sale sign up. Didn't think I would ever do this!!

 

I paid 17,500 for mine two years ago. It had 40K on it. I think I got a deal. Everything else was 19-23K.

Yours is an auto, crew cab. That adds value. I do think 23K is high. I would price it at 22K and take your time selling. Or, if you are ready to sell it, price it at 20K and don't budge.

In the end, it is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Perhaps Craigslist and Autotrader would be a better resource than KBB to determine a price that will actually be competitive in your local market.
